Hello PK guys.I've always like them, but after seeing a restored one close up at a show i want one!For a GT i have a "72 JD 110(that i'll have to sell),that is nice but i could use something a little bigger.I have Fords, but want an in between size tractor.I'll be looking for a tractor with a belly mower(or may get them separate?)Anything i should look for/stay away from with the PK's?I know nothing about them at all.I do know i want something late "70's at the newest. Thanks for any help!

The only thing to be wary of would be the 18hp Kohler single cyl. k361 engine. Not their best attempt at an engine. They have power like you wouldn't believe but they are finicky and very high maintenance. The 14hp has all the power and torque you will ever need.
Things that are good.
The dual transmission set up. That's a big selling point as it offers you three speed ranges. The front and rear trannies are exactly the same. This is not a hi/lo set up that so many people like to call it. The dual trannies do one thing, slow the tractor down. Realistically, you only need this if you want to till or blow snow. I could use it with my front end loader at times as well.
Hydraulics and three point. If I were only using mine to mow, I would prefer the manual lift as I can raise the deck faster if I need to. Other than that, hydraulics and three point are the way to go. The three point is a standard category 0 so it will fit any cat. 0 implement out there. Those most used are by brinley hardy.
These tractors take some getting used to with the offset steering. Once you do though, they are hard to beat. I believe they are the only garden tractor where you can stand up and drive comfortably if you are mowing for long periods of time. They are strong and work far beyond their rated capacity. They are also designed for more horsepower than what they have. The transmission is actually a Crosely tranny so it's built for around 40hp.
If you get into the newer fiberglass tractors, there are other things you need to watch out for. It seems though that you want the good old steel tractor. There is one for sale near me here in western PA. Where are you located? If you are close enough to the Pittsburgh area, I can give you the guys number. He's not on the web.

I sent you his number via personal message. Should you need pics or anything, let me know and I'll be glad to go take some and email them to you. Long way to go not to see what you're considering.
