I buy my oil at K-Mart and it's still around a dollar a quart for Exxon 10-30 and 30W oil. Seeing as gas jumped so high, I can't help but wonder why motor oil hasn't. How is it for you folks? I'll be stocking up some in case it suddenly hits $3.00.

Been going up stedly all the time. I remember it used to always be $1-1.75 a qt. Now it all seems to be $2-$3. Still cheaper then a motor though.

i do the same thing joe. my local wal mart has qts for .99 each and the case prices are cheap as well. almost everytime i shop i grab a case of 10\30 tech 2000 as its what i run in my vehicles. scary part is i run nothing but kendall hd sae 30 in all my mowers and at 2.25 a qt it gets expensive but i run it in customer mowers as well so after charging them its mostly free for me. :fing32:

I dont think its went up too much. I remember paying just over a dollar per quart of Castrol back about 18 years ago, and now its up close to $2 per quart. Speaking of which, I need to change the oil in my little wanna-be truck. LOL Thanks for reminding me.

Hey, I heard synthetic oil is still the same price it has always been. $22.00 for 6 Mobile 1's at Sams. Wonder just how much of that $67.00 a barrel oil it has in it.

Archdean, every use the Rotella 5W-40 Syn they have for the CUTs and Utilities? Some of the Wallyworlds have for $12/gal. Makes them babies crank fast in the winter! I use the Rotella 30W in the Lawn and Garden Tractors here.

Far be it from me to give you any advice: but at $100.00 a week The Missy would be washing the little ones diapers out in the toilet!! It (Gasp) did not hurt their self esteem nor their caring Mother's either!~!

I recently had to buy some motor oil, and was shocked at the price increase, Nothing under $2 a quart at K-Mart, some close to $3 and it ain't synthetic or a blend, those start at around $5 a quart and up.

1 litre 10w30...$2.79...you have to get it when it's on sale....and that litre is a bit smaller then the quart....

Really increases the pucker factor doesn't it Joe and I'm not talking about yer lips.

This might sound nuts but recycled oil is sold over the counter in some places. It is treated just like used Anti-freeze -- filtered, etc. with some additives put back in it. The local, wholesale, fuel supplier in our town sells it now for about 85 cents a quart. Much cheaper than say Havoline, Shell and other name-brands. He claims it is just as good as new stuff but I'm an old guy and have taken a wait-and-see stand. The local ranchers and farmers buy it by the barrel (at a bulk rate) for their tractors and other equipment. No issues with them so far that I know of.

"I saw Havoline in Wallyworld yesterday for $1.34"

I would sure like to find some of that. I still have a little oil I bought on special sales a year or more ago for .69 - .79 per qt. but all I have seen for some time is at least $1.59 for Wal-Mart brand to $2.25 - $2.75 for Havoline which is what I generally bought on sale. Sure never seen any Havoline at Wal-Mart or any where else around here for $1.34. Just paid $22.00 for 5 qt. Mobil 1.

I think I paid $3 something for Q full synthetic. That is what I have in my Cub. I did pick up a 5 qt jug of Castrol full synthetic for $21 at Walmart, but had to buy an extra qt. as the Grand Cherokee takes 6 qts.

It's funny how for the past 10-20 years oil remained about the same price but I guess they just figured out there was profiting to be done in the motor oil area too. wonder how actual crude goes into a qt. of Dino oil anyway with all the additives that's in it. I paid like around $1.00/qt. for Havoline for what seems like forever and now it's near $2.00/qt. Wife paid $2.79/qt. for Castrol GTX at Autozone for my Scion the other day. The last I bought was $2/qt. at Kmart, got watch for those sales.

I checked Wal-Mart today, their brand was $1.64. Havoline was $2.56.

And back in the mid 70's I was getting for 35-50 cents a quart on sale. But I am still getting on sale occasionally 1.20-1.39/qt for namebrand

I went into Wal-mart today to get my oil changed. Used to cost $19.95 and $2 more if you want a different brand than the bulk oil they use(Pennzoil). Now they want $8 more for the diff. oil. I checked the quick change places in town and they all want $29.95 for an oil change.
