An update from the only Honda owner with the gumption to post...
After some drag races down the road to establish the Honda RT5000 11/46 vs the Sinplicity Prestige 23/54 speed champion (Honda 6.5mph set for speed vs Simplicity hydro 7.2mph) we set to mowing the 4 acres.
Needless to say, Cathy won. She would lap me and I would pull aside and let her pass. The RT5000 mows at best a speed of 4.2mph with the split tranny in low with high grear selected, bikini on the Prestige at around 7mph. What a sight! Fun had by all and the cars did slow down.
To tell the truth, the Honda rides better with the mega tires fore/aft but the cut quality of the Simplicity rules. The Honda does a fine job but it just cuts the grass. The Prestige sucks the grass upright and lops the top off.
Cathy says stripes next year. It was her first time mowing with the Prestige and she truly enjoyed it.
Me, I always enjoy a nice slow ride on the RT5000. Life is good.
Both have power steering and ATC but the 4WD on the Honda comes in handy. The turning radius stinks, even with the 4WS, compared to the Prestige but there is just something about the RT5000 that says "so what".
