HT23 Kohler Spec

My Kohler K582S engine is missing the spec decal. I would like to have this info in case I ever need to order parts for the engine. Could other HT23 owners post their engine spec number? I do have the S/N for the tractor, if that is reqd. I'm curious if all the K582S engines were the same spec # in HT23 tractors.

I'm sure aegt will have more info on the HT23, but here's what I found.

1979-80 HT23 model 2389-01 engine K582S spec # 36272

1981-83 HT23 model 2839-02 engine K582S spec # 36272

1984 HT 23 model 2839S-01 engine K582S spec # 36328

I just sent an HT23 manual in,pdf to Admin for posting in the library. Not sure if you have a copy already but thought maybe you or others could use it. I would have left the large frame things to aegt but like I said in an earlier post he won't be back for about a week. Meantime, I'm trying to hold down the fort.

Hi Len,

If you have a serial number for the HT-23 we can probably figure out what
year it is. The year is not so important, look at the model number and confirm
if you have a 2389-01, 2389-02 or 2389S. If the tractor doesn’t have a name
plate you’re still ok. If you have power steering you have a 2389S, no power
steering than it’s a 2389-01 or 02.

The engine spec is easy, like sixchows posted, if you have a 2389-01 or –02
your engine is a K582S spec 36272, if you have a 2389S you have a K582S
spec 36328.

You can download a complete service manual for your engine at the Kohler web

You can also download the parts pages for either spec # at another site. Just click
on “Parts Lookup” then on the Catalogs pull-down click on Kohler, then click on
“K Series”. A list of models will come up, click on “582”, a list of spec #’s will
come up, click on your spec (36272 or 36328) and you’ll see the parts lists.
