I have a backhoe mounted on a FarmPro (Jinma) tractor. I installed a pressure guage on teh hydraulic system. All the control valves are showing around 1800 psi when the pressure relief valve kicks in exept for the left/right swing which only gives 600psi. The swing is very weak. Only one PRV on the system so all valves should activate the PRV at the same pressure.

Any ideas?

Wish I had a backhoe on mine. Sorry I can't help you any on the problem. What size/model tractor is this on?

Five-String, Depending a lot on the size of the hoe and size of the pump, swing pressures are usually lower on some hoes to "tame" the swing down a little to relieve undue side forces on the 3 point hitch. These small units can not be compared with the regular construction back hoes. Their different animals. Their primarily designed for the novice operator to be used on a part time bases and not a 40/50 hr. work week. Their not designed to "sweep" the dirt with a side motion as is popular with a construction unit, like a 580 Case. As long as it swings with a loaded bucket, off the ground, I'd just except that it's just slow on the swing and keep digging. If you want to dig faster, you'll need a commercial unit. Sorry. PJ

:ditto: I would agree with Paul J as I have a JD 2305 with the 260 BH and that is my experience exactly. Don't get me wrong... I get a lot done with it but it does not compare with larger units and especailly in side swing strength. It is a fine little backhoe but not true "construction" grade. :fing32:
