I have been following the work you folks are doing on electric riders. My 11 hp, rear engine rider is due for a new engine. I am thinking this is the most ideal unit for electric conversion. It has one blade and one belt, one pulley, and idler pulley, and that funky rubber drive disk/wheel.

Since mechanical losses are the bane of electric vehicles, it would seem this is the best candidate. The high start torque of electric motors would not be a problem as the disk/wheel system always allows for slip. If you start in neutral, you can go through the gears without using the clutch.

I post this for all the brains out there to tell me if I am missing anything?

It would seem that what ever motor worked for the other folks, you could get by with a smaller one on a Snapper single blade due to the lack of power robbing pulleys and gearbox.

not yet...havent found motor...it should be easy enough...with that slip disk tranny on a snapper, i dont think i even need a pwer control. I just need to find an engine I can somehow attach that disk to.

I dont think I would run 300 to 400 amp spikes trur a soleiod without a controller
but go for it just let me stand way back and I hope you have a few exter soleiod
I think you going to weld the contact inside them
