Hey guys, I picked up several murrays last week and I'm in need of a little bit of help.

The older one, model- 9-38608 date- 2998 works just fine. One of the better ones in my collection.

One of the newer ones, model- 428139 date- 0274 is the one giving me a problem. I got it running tonight and its stuck in 2nd gear! Its got the shift on the go option where the shift lever doubles as a clutch.

I hope someone knows what I'm talking about. Anyway, I pull the shifter towards myself out of the groove thats its in (this is where the idler pulley acts like you pushed in the clutch) then when I attempt to push it forward it doesnt move. I took the battery out, set the parking brake, then took a metal rod and tried to move the linkage that comes out of the trans and it wont move. I think something is frozen in the trans or something. Any ideas?

Ill get pics tomorrow.

Put some WD-40 or transmission fluid around the piece that goes into the transmission. This should free it up in a little bit. If it doesn't you have bigger problems. It has always worked on mine.

Thanks man, I'll go spray some pb blaster on it tomorrow morning. Im guessing with the date code it would be a 2002 right?

Good news and bad news...

Good, I found out the engine is a 94, and everything seems to be original...

Bad, the pb blaster didnt do crap! I got an even stronger metal rod than I had yesterday to try prying it and it still wont budge... I have a feeling im gonna have to drop the trans. Engine works fine though...go figure.

Well it was worth a try before you started tearing things apart.
