Ok, not very often I get to boast about little red, but she did me right this past week. Living in Indiana, we've had some snow these past few weeks, and where I live, with the long driveway, it makes getting around tough.
Well one day last week, the boss decided to try to get the minivan out before I got a chance to clear the snow with the tractor. Needless to say, with 13 inches of Ice/snow, she didn't make it up the last hill. A neighbor in his dually ford diesel 4x4 thought he was invincible and would get her out. Yeah, street tires are worthless on ice. He found out the hard way. So they called me. (Yes, my driveway is long enough I couldn't see them and they were both stuck)
Anyway, I fire up the little 25hp 4x4 Jinma. When I get out there, my neighbor laughs and starts telling me how it will "never be strong enough or heavy enough to pull them out".
WOW, did I have fun proving him wrong in IDLE. No hesitations, no extra gas, nothing. Slow and smooth. Hooked up the chains. Put it in first gear at idle, popped the clutch, and away she pulled. First the dually to get it out of the way, then the bosses van.
I then proceeded to spend the next 3 hours digging through the snow/ice layers and moving it aside. One thing I found helpful in the process, as I don't have a blade, just the front bucket, was to use my DR PowerGrader. It may sound stupid, but the teeth on that thing tore the ice layers up like nobodys business.
Now, I plan on buying a blade for next winter, as it will make pushing the snow to the side easier than trying to scoop, but for now, my toys/tools have done an excellent job.
Had to tell the story. Now when I get home tonight, I get to move the 18 inch drifts again. The wind is a killer. Maybe the temps will rise soon enough that I don't have to mess with it.
