Brownie passed the other day after being our faithful cat. Brownie came into our lives after we found her cold and hungry the third day we moved onto our property ten years ago. On that day after we found her I went into town and bought a bag of cat food, she never left and always would greeted by me rolling over and waiting for me to pet her.

She was always hunting the mice around our home making sure that not one mouse ever set foot near our house. She did not care to come into our home except when it was really cold and then would not walk around inside that much.

She loved our dogs and would play with them and after the dogs got tired and would lay down, she would get up and walk over and lay down with them and go to sleep with them if they layed down next to the front door.

The only time she ever would walk across the living room was if I sat down in my easy chair then she would walk across the living room and would climb up into my lap and fall asleep purring the whole time.

I found her Tuesday morning in the garage on my Kubota tractor all curled up and when I walked over I found that she had passed in her sleep, This the first cat that I ever enjoyed as she was independent and never asked for much.

I took her to the vet yesterday and had her cremated and plan to bury her ashes under the flagpole that I put up last September as she loved to lay on the ground next to it after the flag pole went up.

At her last check up the vet warned me that she had advanced heart diasese and might not last the winter. The vet estimated that she was probably about 18-20 years old and she was getting mighty old for a cat.

So long Miss Brownie.

I'm sorry and I know your pain. Maybe Miss Brownie is lining up a cute kitten somewhere for you. It's really the only thing that helps.

Sorry for your loss.
Sounds like you had a very special friend in Brownie and she was ever grateful that you found a place in your heart for her in her time of need.
If you ever want another friend may it be one as kind and loving as Brownie was.

One other thing I forgot to mention about Brownie was she would join the dogs for a walk. She would just walk alongside the dogs like she was a dog when I was walking the dogs. She had not been doing this much towards the end as her condition prevented her from going very far from the house and garage.

We will get another barn cat, but Brownie will always remain in our heart as she was just a good companion for us.

Oh man....Michael

I always read this forum and hardly ever reply. I just get too chocked up and that’s the God’s honest truth.

Once in awhile…we are blessed with a pet the gives us unconditional love, a silent witness to our joy and misery. They ask little if anything in return and maybe that’s why many of us prefer them to human company. I’m very sorry for your loss.

Very sorry for the loss of your good pet. Sounds like she took good care of her family for quite a few years. Maybe, after a while, you'll find another little pet to keep up the spirits.

Beautiful story. I'm sure Brownie will be kept alive in your memories of her. Pets are truly gifts from God, they calm our souls and brighten our footsteps-My out door Cat greets me by jumping up on the car after it stops, even after dark-then she proceeds to tell me her adventures of the day, almost talking at times. I will miss her some day-just as you miss your "Brownie".-AL

Add me to the long list that's hoping you'll someday get over your loss. Brownie sounds so much like our Champ, who got run over 4 years ago. It's tough to lose a member of the family, even if it is a different species.

Michael,
Soo sorry for your loss, I know what you are going through. But take comfort in knowing you gave Brownie a good home and loved her and that she loved you as well. She has crossed the rainbow bridge to be with all Gods creatures and won't be lonely so try to remember the good times and I bet you will see Brownie out of the corner of your eye every once in awhile playing and having fun just to let you know she is OK. But believe me I know how hard it is to say goodbye to them.
