My granddaughter Ashley called me the other day and said her new little minature chawawa (sp?) died. She only had it less then two weeks. it was a very friendly little guy she named Copper. She is a dog lover and it hurt her as it is her first time to experience death of something she loved. They bought it in the mall and supposedly it had all it shots but it got that puppy disease (parvo?) and died. The pet place refunded their money though. Ashley called me yesterday and said her other puppy Scrappy that she had for about a year died too. Apparently infected from the other puppy they had bought. Thats tough for a 6 year old girl to lose 2 pets in a weeks time. She said that after Christmas Mom and Dad are gonna get another puppy for her. It kills me when Ashley is hurting.

Yea ... that is a bummer, both to go. Bad enough the puppy died. Pet store's buy from puppy mill's a lot.
Next time maybe get a mutt or buy from a good breeder. We don't want Ashley going threw this again.
Good part, if there is one, kids bounce back quick..

that is sad, but all too common. i hav eyet to see a pet store in a mall that was not full of disease.
back in '01 my wife bought a choc lab pup from a friend. a week later we bought his brother. she named the first one Dakota, but i calle dhim Doofus. the 2nd we named Hooch. a week or two later Doofus got parvo cause she took him out to her grandmother's house and did not know that her had just lost 8 cats, a deer, a goat, and 3 dogs to parvo. how Hooch never got it, we don't know.

Durwood:
Sorry to hear about your granddaughters loss. I know what you mean about them hurting. They won’t know till they get our age just how much we do feel for them. Hopefully life will deal her a much better hand with her next pet.

Was she get this hard like cry? 2 dogs in week would make me cry so so bad because I really hate lose dogs.

Sorry Durwood, losing 2 puppies is hard. We lost our dog back in April, hope Ashley can feel better soon. My kids still talk about Abby, just this morning while opening presents. We are looking to get a new dog this spring, won't be from a pet store- wish they weren't allowed to sell dogs. I think its better when the pups are home with the adult dogs.

Ashley got two new puppy dogs friday. Benson and Tanner. Ashley also lost four teeth this past week and looks funny without those beautiful teeth she had. She is happy with her new puppies though.

They both are although the black one is full blooded and the brown one half pincher and half chawawa (sp?).

That's great, Ashley looks happy. We also have a new puppy half pincher and half chawawa, (photo shop on the hat).
They will keep Ashley busy.

I know this is an old story, but tell your family to be VERY CAREFUL and keep those news pups on their shots. Parvo can and will spread through contact of the environment, not always just direct contact. My grandmas neighbor lost a beagle pup to parvo, she inherited it's cage about SIX MONTHS later when she got a pup. Needless to say, her pup ended up with parvo the morning after her first stay in that cage. Luckily, she made it through the illness. Hope all is well!
