Sterling crossed the bridge to be with her brother today at 12:10PM when she was put to sleep. I am sure Nicky was there to greet her, but we have suffered a terrible loss, our two babies in 4 days. She literaly willed herself to die, and according to the vet was suffering from Fatty Liver Syndrome and when they don't eat for a day or two go into a death spiral that is about impossible to correct. She died in our arms getting her favourite thing in the whole wide world... Laying on her back getting a belly rub. I cannot begin to describe the grief my wife and I are having. I know in my heart we did the right thing because she would have probably died tonight but this way it was peaceful and we were with her, but it dosen't stop the pain.

So sorry John to hear of your sorrow, its funny how we our pets become members of our families and to have them pass, it hurts real bad.
My sympathy goes out to you and your wife.

I'm sorry for your loss, but you have done the best thing for her.
She no longer suffers, and you did something a lot of people couldn't.

I feel it is best to let go than to prolong suffering.

I have been there also and even though it is an animal we still grieve, it was a part of the family just as much as its human's are to them.

Holycow. Sorry to hear about that, was just showing the other thread to my middle daughter.

Are they going to check into it and see if there were any outside influences, or is that not a possibility?

Sorry to hear about that

There's nothing much I can say but that I share your grief. There must be a ton of great memories from those two little round rascals lives! Now is the time to wander back through them and know how close both of you were to the miracle of animals in your lives and the privilege especially of wild ones living with you happily.:)
