close by today i saw a gas jetstar 3, hooked to a heavy duty 10' hyd trail bushhog, nice looking clean tractor with new seat and muffler.

the sign said good running old tractor and bushhog 1970 model for sale 3800.00 for the pair comes with all manuals everything works like it should!

the tractor had excellant rubber on spin out rims and i am wondering if there is anything in particular i need to watch out for in this tractor because it has me thinking about buying it.

i know nothing about the molines except that they always seemed like strong tractors when i saw them at work, are the hydros on these suspect like the ta on a farmall

Hi KY wonder,

We have a MM specialist on staff here at Steiner Tractor. I will show him this question and see if he can give us a reply. We are having a computer upgrade today and I will probably be down for a while, so it may be tomorrow before I am able to post the reply.

Thanks!

Elizabeth Gross

Here is what Steve said:

Well, I can tell you that I own a jet star 3 and it is a nice tractor. The 10' brush hog is a little too much if you are in heavy grass. the TA's seem to be a lot better then the Internationals. The weak point on the tractors are the governors. They wear out and the linkage falls out of place. If this happens you have no governor. For the most part those tractors are very nice and well built.

well i checked out the old girl today, she ran like a top, great tires the torque worked well it has 4200 hours on a working tach, overhauled less than 400 hours /4 years ago, acording to some markings engraved on the head, full working guages, power spread wheels, stout hydraulics, i got her for $2400.00 and will pick it up after christmas, i think it will serve my needs well, i passed on the 10 ft bushhog, i was afraid it was too much for the tractor in my heavy fescue here, but if anyone is in the central ky/tn area needing a decent old 10 ft woods let me know it can be bought for $1300.00

Beware of governor on MM JS3,Cockshutt 1350, U302,445,etc. Governors wear out causing rpms to exceed specs. Usually you end up with spun bearing on throw 2 or 1. I have had 3 with bad cranks.
