My latest nonsense... The magnet came out of an old broken disk drive. Darn things are really strong! The pipe is 3" and can be found at the plumbing department at the hardware store. The bottom was cut out of 3/4 maple and a 3" hole saw. The round plug was about 1/8 too small (saw kurf of the hole saw), so rubber tape used for replacing windows was used to bring the wooden plug up to 3" dameter.

If I recall correctly, You have been breaking things apart with some regularity for as long as we have been acquainted!!

Please explain what you mean by the word "Start"??ROF :bannana: :trink39:

I think it is about 7" tall. The goal was 6" of holder so the magnet and the wood makes about an inch. I ballparked it because I didnt really care that much. The magnets are used for the linear positioner in the disk drive. Please be careful with those things, they are really strong!

You will need a T8 Torx bit on many of them (really small). The fun is in tring to figure out where the hid all the screws under the label. Careful not to void the warranty!

Yeah, those hard drive magnets are handy. I keep a small piece of one in my mechanical fingers to pick up iron objects in hard to reach places. It will pickup my 6" crescent.

Do the magnets work as an anti-antifizz device? After all the biggest problem with factory cup holders is that they remove the fizz from the beverage. How do you handle the mineral and fiber enhancement feature commonly found on the factory cup holders?

Kurt -

Desperation leads to desperate measures and that is one slick cup holder. I didn't realize until now that you were cup holderless so to speak. What have you been doing all this time - tying the beer to a string around your neck? ROF

Ya know, when "cadurning" wants to re-fizz his beverages, he just gives them a shot with his Roman Candle Feature that he normally uses to burn fire ants. ROF

Thanks Kurt, I have always heard that laziness is the mother of all inventions. I am rigging mine up now.

Cadurning,

Excellent question. I have not developed the antifizz technology to actually solve this long standing problem that has plagued our kind for generations. I can only provide you with this workaround that I have in the works and a picture of the prototype.

All that is required for version 1 is the other unused magnet from the disk and a trip to the local liquor store. This version requires a rather high rate of beverage consumption to maintain decent carbonation. A sacrifice I am willing to make under these conditions.

Version 2 will require some minor fabrication to get it up on the air so gravity will do its job, some hose and a valve from the hardware store. Also, the cup holder will no longer be required, but could just be used as an overflow and an accessory. As far as the fiberous floaters, version 1 does nothing to solve that problem, but version 2 should resolve the issue to a reasonable degree of user satisfaction.

Ed,

Before I mow a pasture I drove around with a 12 pack and strategically place about 6 beers on various fence posts. The rest I put in the water tank to keep cool . I think Poco and Chance have stolen some from me while I was mowing, but if I were to tell Glenda she would think that I was telling that old Tom T Hall sneaky snake story. The empties ended up in the hay feeder.

I was telling the Mrs. that I need to make one that fits a Crown bottle for you and a square one for those that like bourbon.

Sorry about the Coors Light, but it is the only beer I could find in this 5 liter configuration. $10.00 isnt too bad either.

Strategically placing beers around the field on fence post. INGENIOUS!!!! Simply INGENIOUS!!! I'll bet Poco and Chance are very happy horses and I'll bet their stalls smell really sweet. :fing32:

I haven't seen the 5-liter cans of beer but I'll be on the lookout for em when I go to the big city next time. They may just help me justify an newer bigger reefer for the shop. :trink39:

thanks for sharing that great idea kurt. my buddy recently came up with about the same idea but instead he welded a piece of pipe to his rear fender. he offered to put one on my snapper but i declined as it was a little to ummm "gaudy" but your idea will do just great! ive yet to see the 5litre can myself but with your fabricating skills maybe a gravity feed setup is in order. :trink39: bernie.
