I'm gonna go look at a Gravely L tomorrow. All I know so far is that it runs and has a plow. Asking price is $200, but I think there's room. Here in FL it's hard to find vintage iron, so I'm used to paying a bit more. Anything I should look for/at in particular? Are particular vintages worth more?

I would have a listing of the serial numbers with me to determine what year the tractor is. Also check out this one.

It has some great information on how to identify what year tractor you have. Lots of these older tractors have different parts put on them over the years so it can be hard to tell exactly what you are looking at. Some models had upgrades like electric start, two speed axle, governor and remote pto control.

0ther than that check the obvious stuff like how smoothly it starts, runs and operates.

Not a bad price.. Eaven a stripped down, bitsa L running is worth at least $150 IMHO. Other features add to the value. Try to get the guy to walk you through using the tractor if you have never used one before. there kinda diferent.

I've had a couple of 'newer' Gravely's- maybe mid 70's?, so I know how to use them. From the pic I have, it's an older L with the minimal hood and small round tank, as opposed to the later ones with more coverage. It's also a pull start model.
