Went to my Simplicity dealer to check on my Regent and look at some new models. They haven't taken apart the motor yet but said it had low compression and it sounded like head and/or a valve problem. So started looking at the showroom at other machines and test drove a Conquest. That machine make mine look like a toy! My Regent is gear driven and this is Hydro. I think I like the hydro but it just seems slow to me. When I want to go in my Regent it goes! So I am getting the Regent fixed and I am going to sell it and get something else. How much is a used Regent worth with a 44 inch deck? So far looked at the Conquest nice machine rides real nice and has a nice price tag too boot. About 4100 dollars to be exact. Also looked at Kubota but all they had were lawn tractors at the dealership. Looked at some John Deeres also. I must say John Deere mowers are expensive. I seem to be leaning toward a Cub 2042 with shaft drive. It's 1500 less the the Conquest but the seating I am not sure I can get used to. It seems to have far less leg room than other machines. What I am looking for is a lawn/garden tractor. Not quite a lawn tractor but almost a garden tractor. And it must run a snowblower or blade. Any options you can give? Thanks.

For your use it looks like the Conquest hits the nail on the head. Almost a GT, and a step up from a mower. I was looking at the MF version of that tractor this spring, and if I had had the money I would be mowing with it right now."OK, not RIGHT now, becouse its only 6:30am, but you get the idea:D] Me personaly I could not have it as an only tractor, becouse I have a lot of hevy stuff to do, but for day to day mowing it would be perfect for me.

id put in my 2 cents for the conquest too...
its not shaft drive - like the cub... but it has ACT & locking diff. which is a great feature...
try to take that conquest into mud or a sloped area... use the locking diff. its a great feature.. one of the ones that differentiates the simplicity line from all the others....

Ditto on the Conquest. It's just a nice machine for the money. I got mine for $3990. Another dealer was $4250, so the $4100 sounds just right.

Update again! The engine engine blew a valve out of the seat and ruined the head. They replaced the head and some electrical wiring on the machine under/on the flywheel cover. Also found out the carb was leaking badly too. I always wondered why it was had to start sometimes! Supposely manufactures are making the carbs cheap now and they want you to replace the whole thing..I really don't even want to use the machine now so I am selling it. Plus my grass is so high now I have trees growing from it and don't want to overwork the motor. I am looking for a good buy on a used tractor and shopping tomorrow. Thanks!

Does the gas line from the tank to carb have a fuel shut off valve installed. If it does I use it when the LT is not in use, it doesn`t take much gas in the oil to mess up a motor. With your`s just coming back from major work, you don`t need and more problems. All it takes is a little dirt under the needle and seat to let the gas seep by, been there done that, not any fun. The Conquest sound like the right combo, I like the large size rear tires shown in the photo. Good Luck in your hunt for a new ride. :fing32:
