Anyone use them? Are they worth the money? What would be a fair price for a set for my Commercial 12? I have used the tiller many times and wish it was just a little slower ground speed so I don't have to slip the clutch.

I am in the process of replacing both side axle seals with new ones and just thought about the GR wheels and how they actually mount.

Feel free to chine in with comments or pics!

The gear reduction wheels as far as I know are intended for use on non swiftmatic machines like the L series,, in fact if you look at the axle castings the side with the swiftmatic controls does not have the flange drilled (4 holes) to mount them,, or atleast my Com 12 doesn't.

I had a set for one of my "L's". Made plowing and blowing deep snow far easier. Snow blower running in hi range and the ground speed slightly below regular "Low". They mount in two positions on an "L". Forward of center of gravity and rearward. There's 2 half moon cutouts on the axle housing. I kept the wheels in the rearward notch so the snowblower had more downforce and didn't try to climb packed snow. I also had the castors adjusted to slightly lift the blower when backing up because with the G-W wheels in that position you can't really lift the blower with the handle bars.

If you go looking for the set, be sure you get the small axle drive gears as well as the large gear housings. And you'll need square keys for the drive gear/axle slots and 8 mounting bolts which pass through the axle flange on the machine and terminate in threaded holes in the large gear housings. If you're a fast moving kind of guy, you won't be when using gear reduction wheels on an "L"!:D

Since they won't fit your machine let us know how you like the "L" you'll be buying to restore!:D

Oh , I see how you guys work now. LOL:sidelaugh I now know why most everyone has 2-3 Gravelys. I really don't want to have 2 or more tractors, just use the one I have MORE!

Well since they will not work with my C12 with swiftmatic then I will not be looking at them anymore. You actually saved me money.

Thanks.

What tires are you running on the machine? Mine originally had the 18" diameter turfs on it, I put 16" diameter ag's on for tillage applications and snowblowing,, taller tires for more ground speed, shorter tires for less ground speed,,, it's not much, I never did the math but off the top speed reduction may be around .25 mph but that may be pushing it? One draw back with the shorter tires is less ground clearance though.

I have the turf tires but not sure about the diameter. I will measure them and see.
