On the rare occasion I would get to ride into town on Saturday night in the back of the neighbors stake bed truck, my mother would give me a quarter. That would get me into the movie for 9 cents. Then I had to make a big rescission, if I got a bag of popcorn for 5 cents, I would not have the 15 cents needed for that big delicious barbecue sandwich at the restaurant after the movie.

Remember those items posted? Much more.

Yep, I remember most of them. Some I don't think were around my neck o' the woods in New England though. I remember gas @ $0.13 per gallon at the discount station, and $0.17 @ regular stations. Cigarettes @ $0.17 a pack for regular brands, and SPUDS and WINGS for $0.14 a pack. Morning paper for two cents, evening for three. Sunday for a nickel.

I remember much of it. Thanks for posting.

I remember like yesterday, riding my single speed bike to the cow store(drive thru convenience store with a fiberglass cow on top). Taking my quarter and bying a honey bun and 1/2 pint of whole milk and getting 2 cents back. Must have been about 1968 - 1969. Wolfing that sweet pastry down and chasing it with the milk.

Neat memories there. Lots of fun things.

Notice the sign under McDonalds--Over 200 million sold? Bet they sell 200 million in a day, now...

Yah, 6 oz, btls, I always got Pepsi because they had larger btls., 5 cent pk. of peanuts, dump them in and sit on the back of the bench at pool hall and watch the "big boys" play, I never had the money to splurge on playing pool.

I remember most of them--matter of fact--still have a Akai reel/reel tape deck(and 60+ tapes of early rock/roll) that I got overseas back in '69 or so.
First gas I remember pumping was about .25 a gallion--Sunoco, too!!

Thanks Ken!!

How about the big old iron wash pot to heat hot water to wash clothes and metal scrub boards. I still got a box of 78 records.
We had a small hamburger stand that sold them for 5cent and you got the top dipped in the grease.

It kind of scares me to know all of them. The lowest I remember gas was.18or.19 cents. I do remember dad buying wellhead gas for about .10 . It ran just fine in our f30 and our 49chevy 11/2 ton truck.

Yes I remember most of those things. I still have my Grandmothers old refrigerator. The type that used a block of ice to keep the 'ice box' cold. It's still in use today as my drill press stand. But when you open the lid, it's still has the guts of the original icebox. Sentimental I guess.

Between thread one and the rest of the comments has brought back many great memories to us ole geezers as they were the good ole days and I'm sure we will never see them as good again. I still miss Howdy Doody and Mr. Bluster and my sweetheart Princess summer, fall, winter, spring.

I don't want to say I'm old, but Sky King's daughter was named "Penny" and I had a huge crush on her.

I remember them all, and it seems like yesterday.

We were talking about those little stamp books for pro football the other day. Used to get stickers from the gas station and try to fill the card for each team.

I remember crusing Woodward Ave back in the early sixties in an old 55 chev Nomad wagon and crusing thru uptown drive in where the car hops were very delicious looking and gas at the full service pump was 15 cents and came with a jar of jelly and that was Sunoco 260 ..... Really I just heard the older boys talking about the old times, like my brother Argee........:ROF :ROF

I admit I am old; I remember every one of those. What memories they bring back.

Lets see now.......I have a nice reel to reel deck in storage, the Lincoln Logs and Tinker Toys are packed away, my Erector Set is stashed in the shop storage, a couple of books of S&H green stamps are in the flea market for sale box Does this explain why the wife says I could qualify as the Fred Sanford of Arkansas?

Thanks for sharing

That.............from my much older brother! It doesn't surprise me.....I want to apologize for him....his mind is pretty far gone. He was injured in a horse and buggie accident when he was a young man. He drools a lot now and wets himself so he has to wear a diaper. I visit him at the old folks home once every other year...but he doesn't remember.

Yeah!!! I thought Penny was pretty hot too! She was actually Sky King's teenaged niece. H'mmmmmm.....!
