We bought castol gear oil 75w90 so it didn't do good plus make little hard shift when it cold. It for manual transmission.

We want buy at Local place so do you know any amsoil dealer in MI? zip code 48183

Do you have 75w90 full synthetic? how much for 3 quarts? $40?

Greetings Dan !
I used the online application guide on my website to look up a 94 Geo, the manual transmissons call for a GL-4 75W90 for that year.
Automotive gear oils are available in several specifications.

GL-1 spec gear lubes are for manual transmissions operating under the least severe conditions, and are normally satisfied by the use of common engine oils such as 5W30, 10W40 and 20W50. Engine oils safely support this application because they contain oxidation and rust inhibitors, defoamers, and pour point depressants in their chemistry.
Friction modifiers and extreme pressure (EP) additives must not be used.

GL-2 spec gear lubes are for automotive worm gear axles that operate under varying load conditions, temperatures and sliding velocities, which is more than GL-1 lubricants can completely protect against.
GL-2 gear lubes may contain anti wear additives, film strength improvers, and a small amount of EP additives to protct the worm gears.

GL-3,4, and 5 are gear lubes for moderate to severe conditions such as manual transmissions, transaxles and axles with hypoid gears.
These service conditions must have fluids that will handle variations of speed, loading, and be able to handle high speed shock loads and low speed high torque conditions.
GL-3,4,5 gear lubes contain EP additives, with the concentration being increased for each higher GL number.
GL-5 oils have twice the level of EP additives as a GL-4.

EP additives are sulphur-phosphorus based chemicals. EP additives form organo-metallic salts on the loaded surfaces that serve as a sacrificial film to protect from metal to metal contact when the oil film is broken due to a sudden shock load or extreme sliding velocities from low speed high torque conditions.
This sacrificial film allows time for the gear set to reestablish the film of oil that normally fills the clearance between the gear set.

The trouble with using a GL-5 gear lube in place of a GL-4 is a corrosion issue.
Sulfur based organo-metallic salts attack yellow brass found in manual transmissions and transaxles. The high EP content of GL-5 is high enough to cause corrosion.
