Our youngest daughter (a sophomore in college) entrusted my wife and I with her bunny rabbit "LB" this week. Kellie had this pet for seven years. She was in Texas visiting her friend who will be shipping out to Afghanistan on Thursday. Monday night her rabbit died in our arms. We did not tell her yet for fear it would put more stress on her trip. We will be telling her tonight (Wednesday) when we pick her up from the airport. I am concerned she will be upset for not hearing about it when it happened. I don't know what to say.

talk about bad luck... my sister had a similar thing happen, she was watxhing my mothers birds while she was on vaca and one of them died... It just happens...
hopefully she will understand it was nothing you guys did...
Very sorry for your situation. I think you made a wise decision regarding when and how to tell her. She might think you should have told her at the time, but in the whole realm of things, she had a lot to deal with on her trip and this would have probably put a damper on the whole visit.

A tough situation... I think, though, that I would've done the same thing that you did...

We would have done the same thing. She had enough to deal with while away and telling her over the phone, IMO, wouldn't be a very personal way of doing that.

Thanks for the good input folks. There were some tears on the ride home but she realized that there are no guarantees of life. Thank you all again. -Gary
