View Full Version : no hydraulic pressure after o-ring install

I installed o-rings in my hydro pump. I can't get her bled off though. I bled it down to where the lines meet the pump by gently spreading the lines away from the pump..lotsa oil there. I then coupled that, topped off the tank and operated the touch lever back and forth with the filler bolt out many times with no success. I cannot remove the allen head screw from where the lines couple to the tank (yet). Any ideas? Oh, and also, when I had the pump in my hand I filled one side with hydro and spun the impeller and saw it was pumping through.

Freebird, the touch control system is a closed center system, which means it's always fighting pressure. You will need to get that Allen head screw out to properly bleed the air out of the system.

Ok then, I'll try that this weekend, thanks.

Update....I got an almost complete hydro unit last month with a pump. I rebuilt my old control unit and no-go (see other post), so I decided to try the new pump. It worked, but I suspect the o-ring is shot, so I'll pick one up today. I also noticed the top port on the pump is smaller than the bottom one..it has no effect on the speed raising or lowering. It sure is good to have hydraulics back!

The smaller port is likely the pressure port. The fluid goes out under pressure, so it takes a larger port to bring enough oil to the pump under vacuum. ;)

Thanks, I have also noticed that the tubes that came with it has a brass elbow coming out of one of the plugs where it mounts on the tank. I suspect the po was using a bypass block to run another implement.
