Hello Oliver fanatics. :trink40:

At the last 3 or 4 tractor shows I have been to, there have been some old Olivers there with 2 exhaust pipes through the hood.......I believe they were on the model '70'...

Is this/was this 'dual pipe' set up standard/OE? Also was there any other Oliver models of that general 'era' that also had the dual exhaust pipes?

I'll have to hunt them, but I think I took some pictures of one of them....I thought it was really cool looking :fing32: ........even to this IH tractor owner.

This is the 3rd or 4th -different- Oliver 70 that I have seen with 2 stacks.....

I think it looks COOL with 2 stacks :fing32:

Here is a pic of a DETROIT DIESEL powered Oliver, it was at the same show.

if i remember right the 70 has a link or something in the manifold this could be where they are getting the 2 stacks from. i got a parts 70 i'll have a look at tomorrow and let you know

sorry for the delay had some computer trouble and couldn't get online. still can't get pics from my camera onto the computer yet so i'll try to explain it
the exhaust came out the front of the manifold into an elbow then into a muffler that laid across the top of the manifold under the hood yet then into another elbow and up through the hood. on the picture you posted the owner cut a new hole in the hood and may have used a t in the front of the manifold to run dual exhaust or ran straight up and the back pipe is only for looks. hope that explains it sorry for no picture

hopefully heres the picture as you can see the muffler is long gone on this one and a pipe was just ran up thats probably the same time this tractor lost its hood

Bear: Thanks for the replies.....and thanks for the picture of the manifold :fing32: That pretty much shows how they got the 2 stacks...lol

Had me freaking out for a second, as the straight-block Detroits only had one stack, all the manifolds I've seen were one-piece castings. You'd have to have a V-block Detroit to get duals, and that would be a 225 or more horsepower mill.

Here is a pic of the Ollie 99, the one that had the detroit diesel. Same tractor in different clothing could be had as a MF model. These models had twin air intakes and one exhaust.

Paul,
That's the same engine as Big Slims better half's 990 That we are about to do. The MF is the 98. I'm still looking for grill inserts for mine if anyone knows where I can get some. Big Slim says he's going to send the blower out for crome. You may see the beginning of the posts for that project next weekend.

Cool tractors to look at! Around here there were several modified Case LA's that had the 3-71 screamin' jimmy in them. Great pullers. But, they had mufflers on them, and ya could hear them 2 or 3 miles away. And by the time the guys that had them were 55-60 years old, they couldn't hear much of anything.

If you take that elbow block off and bolt straight flange pipe in its place ya got DUALS!! (been there,-- done it on our 70)!-----Got ass-chewd by pop, too!!
Detroit powerd models were 99--super99--995--masey,etc, had dual AIR cleaners, but 1 stack,--course this year at I&I show, 99 showed up there with 3 exhaust pipes!! thanks; sonny

can't get the pic scanned and sized to read so i'll try to explain it under the fuel tank is a dipstick if you have hydra power use type a trans fluid if you have creeper gear use gear oil. pto has level plugs on the right side and filler plug on top left also does trans and rear end hydraulic should be a dipstick in front of seat hope this helps

try your local TSC store, if you want I&T shop books,----probably not in stock,---have Keri order one for you.
Now if you want owners/operators books,----not gonna get any. possible find if you go to Pontiac Threshers show and look up a book scalper, they may have some.---Will be spendy if you do find them, as some of them run as high as $100. each-----books sometimes cost more than the machine they are for,so be prepared to shell out some money. You should have got all the books with the tractor. Oliver stuff is really hard to get nowdays as its long gone! hope this helps you, sorry for being the bearer of bad news, but this old stuff is just not around anymore! thanks; sonny

Oliver #1: Look part way down the page on this site:http://www.ssbtractor.com/oliver_manual.html

They sell manuals for the Oliver 1650

Here is another site that sells 1650 manuals
http://www.jensales.com/tractormanuals.asp?id=OLIVER

Another
http://www.tractorpartsinc.com/oliver_cockshut_tractor_manual_62_ctg.htm

And here is a list of the tractors data
http://www.tractordata.com/td/td701.html

Try looking for an Oliver Collectors Club!! The guys in the club will be able to help you find what you need.

While it is true, that it has been a long time since the mighty Olivers have been built....but they are not forgotten!! THERE IS STILL manuals, memorabilia, parts, and tractors out there!!!! You just need to look in the right places :thThumbsU :goodl:
