Hi folks I've been servicing this machine for the better part of 10 years now for my wife's cousins. I've never seen another like it. It looks to be the same Peerless rear end as my JD214. I just got through changing out the belts, tune up, left head gasket (twin cylinder), three blade adapters and sharpen the blades. After a short road test cutting my side yard it's back in shape and ready for another season. I'm partial to this tractor because it is very easy to work on and maintain, and there is no PTO clutch to fool with. The smaller lever on the side of the deck is to engage the blades, the bigger is to lift and lower it. It's built pretty heavy as well. Thought you folks might like a look at it. Take Care.... Mike

I've heard the name "Lawn Chief", but can't remember if I've ever seen one in the flesh so to speak.

That's what the True Value stores used to sell. I have a pair of Lawn Chief push mowers. Back then, it was actually a respected brand name. The push mowers had a REAL tall deck with a high "shoulder". The engine is sitting down in the valley of the deck. Pretty efficient high-lift decks for the day.

Vmax, it was bought at a True Value store that is long gone. It was built by Murray and is getting harder to get chassis parts for due to being bought out by B&S. Anyhow , It's back to work, I went to visit the other day and my wife's cousin was running it out in the back and gave me a thumbs up. Take care.. Mike

Thats deck setup almost looks like the ones on my Dynamarks- theyre a 'self contained' deck- no engagement lever on the dash/chassis- easy to remove ( one pin, remove the belt and slide it out) - the sheetmetal also looks similar to my agway ( murray clone).

This tractor looks like my dads white Gt1855. Just different color paint. Does it use a pto off the engine for the mowing deck?

No PTO off the engine, the deck has it's own blade engage lever. Sorry I didn't reply sooner. Take care..
