Ok guys:

Its that time of the year. How do you get ready for spring. What is the process you follow for gettting that Simplicity ready to do the yard work.

Mine: Since it runs all year blowing snow it's not hard, I change the oil, plugs, fuel filter. Then I lube all the pivot points in the tractor and adjust the tire pressure for mowing. Usually during the winter I have already serviced my deck by replacing the blades and belt along with lubing the spindles and pivot points also.

Let us know how you do it.

i know.. no need to tell me: "I should be ashamed of myself"

I remove the blower unit.. store it on a pallet then bring the tractor to my dealer.. he does a complete check changes fluids ect... i get it back a few days later...
all ready for spring....

Take the tractor and mower deck with you and let the dealer remove the blower and store it for you and mount the deck for you.

Spring? Six geese just came in for a landing on our frozen pond, skidded about 5 feet. Snow is 90% gone and the yard looks pretty nasty.

Dealer says the Prestige will be delivered later THIS WEEK.

We change the oil and filters. Check the blades and belts. Grease all of the time. On other tractors, the belts have lasted for years. I have always gone by the owner's manual for hours or once a year in the spring.

I'll mention it here since the old forum is gone gone now. In addition to all the above mentioned some of you may remember that I found a very well established mouse nest in the engine shroud of my JD LT133. If I had ran the motor it would have certainly seized due to no airflow through the cooling fins. The fluff they used in building may have caused a fire.

Ditto on the rats nest. I picked up a "freebie" tractor from a family member that had rats nest all around the cooling shroud.
After some battery and carb work, I started the engine, then some gawd awful smell and smoke shut the enigine down. After some looking around I decided to open the cooling tins. Seems I roasted a couple of little ones, oops. I took the tin off and cleaned out the pound of straw, cloth, strings, etc.
