no drdailey, but i could see how you could see those brands in these designs.a couple of hints,i guess you could call these two tractors orphans,as these tractor names havent been sold new since i think late 60's.second hint.the top one is a late 60's model.the bottom one a very early 60's.the top one was built in Georgia. the bottom one's tag says built in Indiana, but its not a w/h.

I dont know about the top one, but the bottom one is a Moto Mower, I think they were built around Evansville Indiana.

correct you are,Mowerman, kinda.it is a lawnmaster but.....porter cable built these mowers before selling off their lawn and garden line, including the rototiller name, about 1961.moto mower bought the law and garden tractor line. im not sure if lawnmaster was a partner or a company owned by moto mower but the tag on this one says lawnmaster, richmond IN.an interesting note:these were also built and tagged as massey ferguson executive 8 lawn and garden tractors.

rustyoldjunk, well, I was just a few miles off with Evansville,:biglaugh:
A friend of mine has one, when he bought it his hood also had the LawnMaster on it, his is a 1962 year if I remember, has the same hood(cut outs for the S/G and muffler) but its recoil start, dont know if they made both versions are not, or if somebody put a recoil start engine(has a B/S) in it.
Didnt know about PorterCable building them, :thanku: for sharing.
Oh, and he mows his grass with it!:fing32:

Tony, both recoil and electric start was available.some have more sheet metal than others i have seen.like some were more deluxe models. jim.
Mowerman
03-16-2008, 03:38 PM
jim, I was gonna ask you about the sheet metal, yours has more, his doesnt have the sheet metal between the seat and steering wheel down on the frame, and it doesnt have the foot rests like yours, just the rods, and it doesnt have the seat back rest.
Nice find. Have fun with it!

I was almost ready to guess MF Executive, but then you threw me a curve with the states they were made in. Wasn't sure MF's were made in Indiana until a little raseach revealed the following information.
From http://www.simpletractors.com/Main/history.htm#Massey
Massey-Ferguson
The first Massey-Ferguson garden tractors, the yellow "Executive" series, appeared in the early 1960’s, and were made by the Dura Corporation, who also made the Moto-Mower and early Porter-Cable tractors. In the late 1960’s the firm came out with the red and gray 7, 10, 12, 14 and 16 models, designed to look like the big Massey farm tractors. Some of these tractors were made by the Badger Northland Company in Wisconsin (Badger was at that time owned by Massey). AMF also made some of these tractors and sold them under their own name in blue and white colors. During the 1970’s Massey come out with the 1000 series tractors, which were made by Snapper. In the early 1990’s, Ingersoll produced Massey garden tractors. In 1993, AGCO Corporation purchased Varity Corporation, which owned the Massey-Ferguson tractor line. After that Simplicity began building the 2000 series Massey-Ferguson garden tractors at Port Washington. Therefore, currently produced Simplicity, Agco, and Massey-Ferguson garden tractors are identical except for paint and decals.

a clue or two on the first one since it it seems to be tougher.the same company made chainsaws.they were badged under at least a couple different names.it came with a briggs and a 4 speed transaxle with creeper low first gear and the grill surround is cast iron.

no guesses?a couple of hints then.the hood is off an old wheel horse.it was shortened to the length needed.the engine is a 10hp briggs but its not the original engine.it came with a much smaller engine rated at i believe 5.75.the front and rear hood stand were also made when the hood was added and the paint is not the original color. so engine hood, stands and paint color are not original but i think they done a good job it looks like it came out that way.

Darn you beat me to the hood. It's an old Sears Suburban 600. The grill should be cast originally. From the front axle, it is pre 1964. Maybe '62 or '63. Has the indepenent rear braking. Here is a picture of what they looked like new. They were made by David Bradely

Kwwolfe correct you are.it is a '59 model.

It ran when I put it away... But I got to many tractor to care for... Its been a few years since it's been started... I got around 30 different tractors and I'm still looking... Saturday is our local tractor auction and I'll be there...

I have to admit that I cheated a little. I have a '64 Suburban 725. There is definitely no mistaking the David Bradely rear end.
Hey Kevin, you can't be too terribly far away from me. That 725 is begging for a new owner. I find myself continually needing more space.:trink40:

Kbeitz,
You shouldn't be too far away from me, which auction is this that you are talking about? If you want you can shoot it to me in a PM, i'm just curious, it may be one I am not aware of.
Thanks,

Yes. I have one, probably a Burns because it doesn't say Penfield on it anywhere. They were also sold by Montgomery Ward with a different hood.
If you part it out, I need a couple things. Also I'd like to know what engine was in it originally.
