I found this tractor on craigslist. This is his description "late 1960s agway garden tracktor with snow plow and 50 inch deck has been sitting for maney years ran when parked in shed 16hp asking $350".
I just spoke with him and he said that he bought it about 10 years ago, ran it around a little, parked it and has touched it since. He said that everyonthing worked fine when he parked it last. He also said that he does not see any leaks on it. It's all hydro lift.
What engine is in this tractor?
The question is, is it worth $350 with a plow and 50" deck? I may hold on to it as my primary mowing machine, or get in running and sell it. Would do you all think?

If it were me .. I would buy it for sure ..
I would offer them $300 ... looks like it could be a nice tractor with some work. If you have the time to put in it ...
I just picked up a "BIG JOE" 2000 lb lift roll around fork lift on Craigslist yesterday... it is going to be a good lift for working on small tractors ..
I really like craigslist .. U just have to watch out for all the scams

I wonder how easy I can find parts for it if I need them.

It looks like my old MTD 1976 Farm King. Very tough tractors and lots of power with that single cylinder cast iron Briggs. Hydraulics were a nice feature on mine with the 3PH. For the price you shouldn't get hurt. slkpk

I spoke to the guy again and told him that I would like to buy it and that I could come down Saturday morning. I am going to call him tomorow night to make sure that nobody as bought it buy then (he will not hold it for me). He said $300 is as low as he could go. We'll see what happens.
I looked at the pictures again. Muffler does not look stock, but everything else looks like it is in very goos shape. A little soap and water should make that red paint shine up nicely. Keep your fingers crossed. Just might have a new avatar by the end of the weekend.:050:

Maybe you can pay-pal him a deposit so he will hold it for you ?? It would stink if someone got there before you did.. especially now since your wheels are turning, thinking of how to clean her up ... just a thought

I don't think he has paypal. I asked him if he could forward me the original size pictures and he told me that he did not know how. I told him that I would take it. We even set up a time Saturday morning at 8am for me to come by, but when he told me to call before I came just in case it sold. Oh well. We'll have to see what happens. Sure looks like a neat tractor. He hasn't even tried to jump it or put a little gas in. Sure could fetch a few more dollars if it he could get it to run for people.

I agree fully .. some people are just to busy or plain old lazy to take the effort to clean something like that up .. or even try to get it running .. I bet if he spent 2 -3 hours on it .. he could get close to $500 for it come April or May
Lets us know if in fact you do get it :wwp:
