I have pulled the 4 speed tranny out of my MF10 and had a few questions. What oil should I be using in the tranny. Also what should I look for as far as if it needs to be re-built. I have no leaks that I can see and there does not seem to be much play on the hubs. Is it something I should just clean up and leave alone as long as it works?.

Thanks, Dave

Service manuels says S A E 90 for the lube. You have to split the cases apart to work on this transaxle, unless there's something wrong with it I'd simply change out the lube and not worry about it.

The 4 speed peerless tranny is a tough unit. If you have no leaks or ticks, and it doesn't jump out of gear I would just change the oil and call it good to go. Massy, John Deere and Gilson all used this tranny.
