The Hydraulics were running kind of sluggish so I remove the side access plate to inspect the system. I turn on the Hydraulic pump and it was shooting water out the side of it.
This is a problem, water water everywhere and a pump that sprung a leak
After draining 4 gallons of water and 1 gallon of mineral oil it got dark but check out the picture of the leak!
Tomorrow I plan to take the pump unit out and inspect for what kind of damage I have.

With 4 gallons of water I'm surprised they worked at all.

It look like it is leaking from the O-rings the whole unit worked right accept for the sluggishness due to the Fluid contamination and leaking O-rings.

I was surprised also everything appears to be functioning except that O-ring leak I will not know until I get that pump on the bench and clean it and inspect it.
I know 75% of my battle will be flushing the transmission out. There was no boot on the shift lever and the rain and the cleaning the tractor for a quick sale is were it came from. There was no antifreeze in the water.
The water was recently introduce it was clear and clean no visible rust in the housing. The is a lot of contaminated mineral oil residue that had turn brown, but no rust flakes in water.

My 8N was also full of water. When I got around to changing it, I was lucky, my stystem worked great. Not a lot of rust eater, and mine was full of water for a long time.

It took a little less than 2 hours to remove the Hydraulic pump and there was a lot of muck!
I found the Control Drive and Oscillator drive to be broken this cause only one of the Scotch yoke pump to be working. This also probably cause the O-ring to blow causing the leak. Also the pressure relief valve was damage from a prior installation.
Cost For Parts:
Relief Valve: $27.50
Hydraulic Control Valve: $24.50
O-Ring and Gaskets: $16.50
Sweat Equity: Priceless

After tearing in the Hydaulic pump I found several other issue that need to addressed.
The housing itself was properly re-assemble The valve chamber were only hand tight. On broken pump pistion and scorned cam blocks! Ouch!
Time for a $270 rebuild kit.

Well you hate to spend the money, but eaven with all this, you still got a SMOKING deal!!!! Puls you know its fixed, and fixed right now. I know I was REALLL lucky with my N. A LOT of water in it, and in the winter it was so frozen, I could not use the lift, or turn on the PTO. REAL suprised I did not brake something in there. A oil change and she worked good. Holds a brushcutter up for about 12hours. Can you realy ask more of an old N?

I spent $270 on Hydraulic pump parts this week! I could not find a full rebuild kit due to back orders. The supplers did not know when the would receive full kit. So I order only the parts needed to renew the hydraulic pump.

Is there any difference between the Ford 9N and Ferguson TO-30 Hydralic pump?
I have the parts to repair the pump and they all are 9N parts!

Wingnut, I know that the TEA20 and 2N/9N use the same repair kit, not sure on the TO30 though. Both pumps were designed by Harry Ferguson, so may interchange.

I have flushed the transmission, deferentrial, and hydrualic case using a high pressure washers until there was no scum flowing out.
The should have removed most of the contamination before I add the new fluilds! I am letting everything dry out and plan to install the hydraulic pump tomorrow!

The TO20/30 & TE20 and 9n are the same. The 8n may be different because of the position control. Sounds like you got her cleaned out pretty good. If it would have got like this photo you wouldn't have got it in gear either.
