Mf 8

I came across a MF 8 the other day. First Massey I have seen. What are the high points of this brand?

Mostly the looks. They are of course built strong, as most brands of the day. I'm a Massey guy, so I like them, but haven't owned a MF7 or MF8 myself.

MY Dad bought an MF7 new in 1968, the MF 8 came out I think the following year and I soon figured out why. That aluminum 7 hp would keep blowing up, the cast iron 8hp that replaced it would run foever. I changed Dad's over to the 8hp after rebuilding that 7hp twice and it'd let go again. I repainted it in 1994 and then sold it for him because he no longer needed it. I wish I'd have kept it. I used it around my auto shop pushing disabled vehicles and it did the job fine. Dad's was the hydro model, I bought him a snow blade, weight box and chains for it one year for X-mas, darn thing was a snow plowen machine! I sold it with mmm, snow blade,chains, weight box, and a trailer for $850.00. That's more than Dad paid for it new!
