I've just installed a new Oil Filter (#87415600) on the 1520 Tractor. I don't feel comfortable with it. The previous # is 86546618 and is larger than the currently installed one. The new one is 2/3 the size of the old one. However, the dealer inquired and said that the new number replaced the old one. After 19 years of owning the 1520, it seems weird that the size would change. I don't know who to contact, because the two dealers that I dealt with had no idea on the subject.

By the way, the first dealer I dealt with ordered two new filters for me. That was 4 weeks ago yesturday. They are giving me the run-around on the order. In the meantime, I've purchased a new filter from another dealer. My patience is running thin on that first dealer. I've never had so much trouble getting a simple oil filter, much less knowing who to contact.

Anyone have thoughts on the filters? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Take that number to your NAPA dealer and he will cross it to either a Wix or Napa gold filter, which is a wix. I have a 1620 and run these filters.

A lot of dealers are reducing oil filter inventory by going to the one (smaller) size fits all approach.
Your filter mounting and specs are the same as the OLD Ford filters from the 50's, so if you have room, you could just use one of those and probably save a few $.
Go to wixfilters.com and plug in your part#'s. Also check out the Wix 51515

Upon further review, the dealer gave you a poor replacement. Gasket size is a little smaller, although it'll probably still work fine. DO check out the Wix site and you can get those dimensions.
