Well, Kev., i haven't built any tractors, but i have had four of them!
I had 3 Model T homaders, and a Model A one, too! All made from ford products!
I bought them cheap, like $25-35. And they ran with a bit of TLC! The engines , i used one of them in my Model T roadster. That one came out of the T with the shortened front axle and rear differential (rear end). the man who owned it had the width of both narrowed in so he could use it for his gardens, to plow and disc etc.
The other T tractors got sold for a slight profit, as back then, nobody wanted that old crap!

The Model A Ford Homade tractor was different, altho it had been put together by a farmer, too. It had 2 3-speed tranny's in it, a big truck rear end, 16 inch wheels on the front, and a lot of gears!
I built a snow plow for it, and would go around plowing out the driveways locally! For the plow lift, i used a long piece of 3inch galvanised pipe, made a pivot on top of the cowl, used an old flywheel on the end as a counter-weight. I had a hook to catch the pipe on when the plow was lifted. I built the lower plow frame from scratch, and managed to liberate 2 plow springs from the Jeep dealer where i worked! I had to build attachment plates to take the push arms of the plow, but at this time, i can't remember how i did it. Heck that was 40 years ago--i'm lucky i can remember my correct name now! When i got it, i had traded a David Bradley 2 wheel tractor and snow plow for it-no money difference! Can't remember how much it sold for!

I got to see Kevin's tractor pictured above at a show in Jacktown, PA. Ran as smooth as can be. Kevin made the rear wheels himself and his quality craftsmanship could be seen throughout the tractor.

Kevin,
Glad to see that you are a moderator here. You will definitely be an asset to the forum!

Jacktown as in close to Waynesburg, Jacktown? If so, that's very close to where I grew up.

Mark

This lift table is the absolute handiest thing I've made in a while...it gets used for motorcycles, tractors, welding fabrication, and a zillion other. Sucker gets used every day I stand up

these home-made-ers have been posted on other sites, but I'll share them here as well...rear hitch on a Craftsman LT2000, rear blade and rake have been put to good use as well.

Modre, I like the blade and rake setup. How does the rake work for you? I'm toying with the idea of getting a landscape rake for my GT5000 but would love to run across plans to make one of my own.

the rake works very well for gathering stones off the surface and final leveling/roughing before seeding grass...then I ran the rake over the seed again to bury them. it did what I asked of it...and saved me all the back breaking manual labor.

the rear blade (48"X 6-7") works OK for mid-rough grading...fair to poor for actually moving dirt anywhere (front blade is better for moving dirt), but it does a good job of leveling side to side.

as far as plans, I don't draw them up...I fabricate from head to hands and work out the details as I go, but here's some rake specs if that would help.

rake is 36" wide with teeth on 2" centers...all metal is 1/4" thick, and the crossbeam is 2 pieces of 1 1/2" angle welded together so the teeth are supported at front and rear with a bead on the top. teeth are 3" long and recessed so about 2" sticks out to work the dirt...with the longer part of the overlapped crossbeam angle to the rear for additional support against the pull.

connector piece to the pivot flange is triangulated 1 1/2" angle welded together, then bolted with 4-1/2" bolts...this is where you change tool heads, using the same boom.

pivot flange is 1/2" plate, and the pivot itself is a 2 1/2" pipe nipple inside a 3" outer piece of tubing. boom is 3" tubing. I drilled straight thru so I could use a pin for dead straight, and use the lock bolts (5/8") for angles beyond that...they make dimples in the inner pivot pipe and work OK, tho a pin might be even better as well when the blade is angled. I found I rarely use the blade at an angle...tho it would be good for cleaning sediment out of drainage ditches.

the rake is perfect as is, but I'm probably going to mount the blade under the belly between the front and rear axles for better grading front to back one of these days.

rake is also useable for de-thathing, and I've used it to run over sparce spots in the lawn to scratch and reseed to thicken up those areas...all in all, it's a good, adaptable, and useful tool. If you want to rake any volume of twigs tho, you need longer teeth.

last season, I piled leaves in a heap next to the garden, and this spring I'll back the rake over it and pull that pile over to till them into the garden.

Haven't built a tractor yet, but am starting to look for parts to scrounge! I like building/modifying implements, though.

Rusty , I have always liked the Fords converted to tractors , work thrue the week and to church on Sunday. I seen one that they used bigger tractor tires on and put the small wheels and fenders back on for the week end.
I sure hope you have some pics of your Fords :congrats: :congrats:
