Cut way down on the beer, burger and pasta you drink/eat daily and you will loose weight. Seriously...if you stick with it...it works.

Well I think I can help. I lost 50lbs sence last summer. What I did, was not a fad diet, not a pill, not buying expencive foods. I call it my "common sence diet" Eat less, loose the garbige, and move a little. Thats it. I used to eat Mickey D's every day. That stuff is GARDIDGE. I cut that out, cut out the candy, and sweets, and upped my F&V's . Oh, and the BIG thing? YOU have to be ready. I was sicking of feeling like I was going to die any day. I did not want to have my 2 year old doughter have to grow up without a father, and to have to watch him planted in the ground. It may be a tough thought to get in your head, but your not alone in thas world, and sometimes you have to think how your actions will effect the people in your life that love and care about you.

So its not realy the diet that matters IMHO. All do the same thing, cut down your food intake, what matters is your drive going in to it to suceed.

Eating in moderation is very important. Eating smart is very important.

Exercise is probably the most important part of the weight control equation.

Anyone can loose weight. Keeping it off is the tough part. I have seen so many people loose weight, look great, feel great and then pack it on to be bigger than when they started.

I recommend the following sources of information:

Covert Bailey
http://www.rondagates.com/index2.html

His Fit or Fat book is very informative. Covert keeps it interesting and funny.

I also enjoyed the documentary - Super Size Me. You can find that movie at Blockbuster and probably any other video rental.

At 5'8", I was 210 lbs when I was 29 years old. Started up with exercise and smarter eating and dropped that down about 40 lbs. At nearly 40 years old, I now am able to stay between 170 & 180. I feel my best at 170 and have dipped down to 160 during some summer running seasons.

Finding some form of exercise that you enjoy is very important. If you do something you do no like. It'll only last a month or so. If you can find several activities that get you moving and are fun, then you can keep it up year after year.

For me that includes mountain biking & running in the summer and cross country skiing in the winter.

wI am already the super sized guy. At 6'6" and 275 pounds I am at my best weight. But a 2 years ago I was at 410 pounds. What I did was the hardest thing in the world and I had to work everyday to avoid going for the snacks.

What I did was what everyone suggested but I made one stop first. I went to my family doctor and had him suggest a heart healthy diet. He suggested a 2000 calorie diet and lots of exercise. I had to pass up alll the junk food palaces that are the death to all of use big guys (and I love to eat at) To only eat what the wife puts in front of me (next to nuthing) and get off the couch and to get outside and work out side and use the weight machine I bought at the thrift store.

I still once in a great while get to have a special night once a month to get to stuff myself but the funny thing is now I don't eat a third of what I used to and feel stuffed at that. It does take work to keep the weight off but my normal maintenance diet is varied and enjoyable. I always like fruits and vegetables to my snacks today are fruits and I enjoyt the fact that granddad is chasing the 7 year old grandson with the super soaker in the yard. :fest30:

My only suggestion is to get to your family doctor and get a diet he suggests and not a fad diet. The fad diets are going to kill more folks then what are going to help folks.

i'm not sure if this applies to you, but take it from a non supersized guy (actually a 5'6" lady) don't put garbage in your body.

There was an old workout movie from maybe 1983 and its arnold (or should i say ahhhhnold) and the first thing he says...in his famous arnold voice...."don't put that garbage in your body" just think of him standing next to you whenever you reach for that beer...

and a personal observation..i gained more weight drinking budweiser than I ever did from drinking vodka (later i realized vodka made me puke, and beer didn't)

I'd probably only weight about 200# but a wicked sweet tooth keeps my weight at a constant 230#. For the last 5 years I have been working out about 3-4 hours per week at a local club. It is a very satisfying hobby both physically and socially. Now if I can only say no to that cookie.

years ago [ when I was a drunk] I was a manager for McDonald's -- the corp takes great pride in having developed a formula of additives and a sugar, salt , fat balance that makes the human body crave more Mac food -- the fries were coated and fried to make them tasty and hard to resist and even the soda syrup was mixed to make you NOT feel sated and want another soda[ the sugars in carbonated beverages actually prevent your body from absorbing water and make you thirstier ]- very bad for you -- eat small portions, use no extra sugars, or salt and eat more often in fresh, clean fruit and veggies that add FIBER-- and exercise -- sex 2-4 times a day is best for you body and mind-unless you find yourself looking up at posters of kenny chesney while doing so

[QUOTE=bigl22]years ago [ when I was a drunk] /snip/ sex 2-4 times a day is best for you body and mind-"

Now here is a man who deserves my utmost respect for both statements or he has fallen off the wagon and needs a hand!! :)

I admire you for saying the first and agree with the second!!
Rarely discuss my personal life and it will suffice here to just say, eat as little as necessary but eat well! Work Hard! And as bigl says find a partner who is as willing as you are to enjoy the intimate pleasures of life!! All told it has made me a very "young" old "healthy" man!! at 165#

Regardless of previous attempts to color my butt this is a nice place and with some good examples can be even better!!
