I have a 41 Case SC that has been a great general hauling/pulling tractor for me around my woods. the other day my brother offered to give me an older 6' sickle bar mower that he got. I was wondering if there is a way to make the motor lift on my Case work in lifting and lowering the mower since it has a 3pt hitch on it now. I can weld OK but don't know what kind of problems I will get into on a project like this so would like ideas from anyone else who has worked on this type of fabrication problem

Thanks
Andy

Suppose anything is possible. Without see the mower it tough to see how it can be done. You can raise the mower but will it raise the sickle. Lets get some pictures on the subject, pictures always help :fing20: :bonk: :banghead3 helps to see things better.

Andy,

I have a '42 SC with mechanical lift that I imagine is the same as yours. I doubt it would work well for the mower since I think it is an "all or nothing" lift for raising the cultivators. (I have never used mine).

Do you have a hydraulic system from a later tractor to operate the 3 pt? If so it's a different story.

Your right in that I have the original motor lift on mine. I agree that it would be challenging but I thought that if I get it for free what do I have to lose. Also I thought that I might add some kind of wheel to the back to help keep it level while mowing. Kinda like the pull behind models. I suppose I could even use it like a pull behind and just attach it to the draw bar. HMMMMM. so many ideas and so little talent. ROF
