Well I found that our school who have many old black dell and my guess it GX260 or GX270 or GX280.
They have about 50 Dells in storage room but 15 dell is enough for me. I will gave some dells to our friends and family.
So anyone get old computers from school? Did they remove hard drive or parts?
It first time for me get used computers from school.
We will get dells next week or later because our friend say it best time is next week.
If you need any computers so check your school of board and they maybe let you pick computers but they won't gave monitor or mouse or keyboard ok. :fing32:

The 270's and 280's are decent computers. Don't know anything about the 260's. Watch out for swollen capacitors on the 270's. Otherwise they are capable machines. :fing32:

Haven't noticed any heat problems on the Optiplex desktops. The laptops seem to get a little toasty.

I got several old apples that my daughters school was giving away, they were complete and working but they are so old that all they are good for is running the educational games that were already installed.I had to sign a release stating I wouldn't expect any disposal fees to be refunded if I decided to get rid of them. The release didn't make much sense but when does gov't paperwork make sense!! :fing32: :ROF
Good luck and hope you get some good ones! :goodl:

Did he get very old computers?
When I ask my friend do they have white dell and he say yes so I say do not get those because it have 350 to 900 MHz PII or PIII so I ask do they Have black dell and he yes because Black dell have P3 1.0 GHz, P4 1.8 GHz, P4 2.4 GHz, and P4 2.8 GHz. It have 1 gb of ram. My guess it should run window xp pro.
Did he gave gateway to you? It run window 2000 or window xp pro?
Did he try put anti-virus on it?

open the laptop and clean out the fan venting over the cpu. that will help lower the heat. it gets clogged with crap.
