I actually need help with something... see the end of this post.
On with sthe story:
~2 yrs ago: Go to mow; break drive belt
1 wk later: Install new belt
2 Days later: New Belt Breaks
1 week and 2 cans pentrating oil later: Idler pulle now ROTATES!
2 days later: Pulley Breaks off of the spindle
SO I decide to "Jury-rig" the system and it works for around 2 yrs
Last week: Belt Jumps off, repeat x3
1 day later: Install new belt, falls off (repeat x3)
SO i decide to replace the idler arm. $65
Swear
Atempt to remove old one- No luck.

Now my question- I am having extreme difficulty removing the bolt that holds this pulley. It would appear to go right into the frame. I've already rounded off the bolt, and a pipe wrench just keeps stripping it more. Does anybody have any suggestions or has expirenced this before?

I was wondering if that had a left handed thread on it.

I have the same thoughts as Gene on it being a left handed thread. Have you sprayed any type of penetrating oil on it?

Thanks forthe resonses guys but I got impatient and ground of the head. Come to find out its not a screw at all. No threads on it. None. Welded onto the engine pan. I plan to cut it off and drill the hole out, and then replace it with a bolt (thats the way it should have been built in the first place). I post pics when I'm finished. Thanks a ton guys

Guy's,

Any ideas on belts sizes and what's the best to use? The OEM's are a bit pricey. Are there any aftermarkets out there that would be a longer lasting choice than OEM? Hopefully, I won't be changing these but every 6yrs or so.

Thx
