Hey--thought I would let you guys know what I found out--the Federal Govt. has finally repealed the FET (Federal Excise Tax) on your landline telephone bills...and will give a refund....
Seems like this tax was enacted the latter part of last century to help fund the Spanish-American War..... :omg: ..that's been over for awhile!

Check out Line #71 on your 1040 form--you can claim up to $160.00 with dependants from past phone bills, or if you still have individual bills--from like Feburary '5, you can use that amount.....My tax lady and I were discussing this , and he's right there w/ it.......
I gotta couple other things I'm gonna post--hope someone else can click here!
A little $$ in the the pocket don't hurt... :fing32:

Cool, I'm sure to bring that up when I do my taxes. What else are we paying for that we shouldn't be?

The "latter part of the last century" was the '1990's?:D Now that I read your post more carefully I won't wonder why I had to pay a tax for excercising. I was doing as little as I could of that to keep my costs down.

Here's more info, if you want it:
Telephone Tax Refund from IRS (http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=161506,00.html)
tax refund on snopes (http://www.snopes.com/business/taxes/excise.asp)
It is true, but the max credit is $60 unless you have your old phone bills.
The tax was created 20 years after the invention of the telephone, so there were quite a few of them around.
