Welcome to MTF krislu!!!

Quite the collection you have there, and the cream of the crop also!! :fing32: :fing32:

I have been looking into getting a stump grinder also. What model do you have? How do you like it? Any reason I should pass on getting one?

Thanks for the welcome Paul. It's nice to be here. We have to get this forumn going! The stump grinders are not Gravely manufactured. They are after market. The two guys making them are Dan Denny ( I have Dan's) and the newer one out is Shaun Kohlbus'. Shaun's is the more impressive looking of the two. I have not used Shaun's but I can speak of Dan's and it is awesome! It works, no problems. Every so often you have to stop and sweep away the chips so you can see what you are aiming for but the thing is good, I highly recommend one. There both about the same price ($300) I have met both fellas and they both are good people. Take your pick. - Kris :)

I think it was Dave who I had been emailing to about it. Realy looks like a nice unit, and a great price. I have a TON of stump on the small size. To big to easyly pull, but to small and to many to pay some one to grind. I figure for the cost of renting one for a weekend, I can have my own, and use it whenever I have the time.

Paul- I would have never paid anyone or rented or certainly bought a dedicated stump grinder but as an attachment for the Gravely it is a perfect fit. The price is affordable (imho) and it is small in size so it is easy to store when not in use. I can send you pics if you want. Let me know. - Kris :D

Hi All, first time here at the Gravely room...I just picked up this C10A, has the brush hog mower on it,(I think, looks to HD to be a finish mower), kool tractor. It wasn't running when I got it, needed a coil and a starter bendix. The guy who gave it to me also has a roto-tiller and a blade for it, he's going to get them to me in a month when he comes up here to hunt. Can anybody tell me the vintage of this thing?

Ingersoll444

That a finish mower. The brush mowers were a single blade 30" deck. Wound not finding a 40" deck myself!!

Looks real nice.

If you have the model and serial numbers we can look up the exact year of manufacter. The C10A was an early '70's vintage. For free downloadable manuals and info go to:

Ok, I'll have to find the #'s. I thought it should ba a single blade to be a brush mower, I'll have to see if I can swap the finish mower for a brush mower, the brush mower would be more usefull to me...

430 Commercial - vintage 1969 and a 1966 L8 w/electric start
430 has a 54" deck underneath and a snow dozer blade.
The L8 has the 30" brush deck and a 26" snowblower.
Both are in good operating condition and handle all my yard chores except gardening - and if I can get hold of a rotary plow for the L8, I'll do that too!

andy r it's a shame you're so far away,i've got one i never use. the shipping would kill ya. personally i would rather have the tiller. unless you have the rotary dialed in right, they'll work ya to death.

I admit I've never used one before, but figured it would do a good job setting up rows ready to plant and maybe even some hilling for squash and potatoes.
I have an old Hahn Eclipse rototiller that I've been using, but it's more of a cultivator than a plow.
Maybe a simple moldboard plow on the back of the 4-wheeler is all I need to do rows quickly?

I have a custom convertible, and a super convertible I picked up with a BUNCH of stuff. Had a sulky, a steering sulky, a rotary plow, a tiller, a finish mower, a brush mower, a sickle mower, a snowblade, two cultivators, and I think that's it. I plan to sell one and some of the attachments, and restore the other when my project list gets knocked down.

So who's out there??

Chuck21387

I just picked up my first two gravely's last night! A co-worker gave them to me free!

1 Model L with turf tires. (really old, Tractor No. 29800)
1 Model LI with ag tires.
Attachments:
1 30 Mower deck with guards removed, in rough shape
1 50" mower deck (2 blade belt drive) in really nice shape
1 cultivator missing the gear box
1 snow blade (man that things heavy!)
1 sulky
1 5 gal. bucket of parts, extra engine head and piston, carbs, air filter, electric starter motor (no flywheel gear or mounting bracket), other misc.

I can't thank him enough, my best friends been teaching me about his and all the options. Then i was just chewing the fat with a guy at work and he mentioned he had a gravely with a rotary plow, and turns out he had two broken ones that he no longer wanted. so he just gave them to me!
