I've been home 44 days and between mowing our place and the in-laws 15 acres I will be hitting 50 hours this weekend. Went to the local dealer and got the filters for the K-71 servicing (BTW - Central Square Farm and Lawn has HUGE discounts on all Simplicity and Massey LT/GTs. Prestige 23/54 for $5500.)
Anyways, reading the manual and knowing how it is not that usefull are there any tricks that I should know about while performing this maintenance?
Thanks,
Bill

Any body have an idea how many welding passes they use at the factory when installing the spin-on filter over the Tuff Torq K71 tranny? I have many tools and first used my hands followed quickly by a 3" socket cup, band type filter removal tool, swing handle band type filter removal tool, college football player forearms (walking down the road with his girlfriend). This thing is high up inside the frame and there is little room to play with.
Ideas? 1 hour job, I thought....

Never start something like this at the start of a 3 day weekend. Finally trailered the beast over to a friend's auto repair shop and a Snap-On ratchet claw-type oil filter tool worked in like 30 seconds although it did take quite a bit of torque. Silly placement for a spin on filter, no room to do anything.
I almost bought one of these Saturday as another Hail Mary at the only opened parts store but my buddy told me I was probably better of without it as the cheap ones are junk.

All the tractor brands hire gorilla's to put filters on. It has created a whole new market for wrenches as you found!

:ditto: My 2210's HST screw on filter was a real bear to loosen.
