i got a newholland ford ls55 yesterday. is there anywhere on the net that has a library of manuals for this mower? i have been wanting a good mower for a while so i can start working on my farmall cub. this l55 mower looks be a good replacement for my cub, once i get it working properly. the po told me that he thinks that the trans is going on it because when it get hot it slows down. he had to wait till it cools before he could mow again. this sounds like a bad seal or a filter to me, well i am hoping :) also there is a alot of saftey features on it that are aggrevating to me, and i cant keep the mower running while i am off of the tractor. is there anyone on this board that has some experience with this mower?
thank you
john

Is those have hydro tran? Sound you need change fluid and make sure their surface is free of dirty plus make sure it have fan to blow tran. Hope it work.

A New Holland dealer will have the manuals and parts. So will a Toro dealer, since these were built by Toro for Ford/NH. There's a few manuals on eBay too for that model. And Milwaukee has some good advice on the trans problems. :fing32: There are ways to defeat the safety features, but for liability reasons I don't think it's a good idea. Are you sure it won't run with you out of the seat even with the parking brake on?

hi guys,
i finally got the chance to work on the mower. i got the motor running smoothly now, it had a little crud from stale gas. now that i got it running i want to take off the deck to check for a cooling fan and to change the oil for the hydro trans. i think this deck is electrically controlled to raise it up and down, but it isnt working. anyone here ever run into this problem? also how would one bypass all the ^*%$*&^^*(^( saftey switches temporarily? its a pita to work on it while its running!
thanks

you can disable it. If you see switch on it try put claw wire that bite though wire to another wire that will disable.
