I just purchased a LGT 165 with a huge gaping hole in the side of the block where the rod decided to part company with the engine. I am looking for a used K341AS 16 h.p. Kohler. Also I need a few parts for the tractor as well...front grill/hood support, idler pulley assembly to run mower deck. According to the serial numbers on the engine, my tractor is a 1976 model. This is my first Ford garden tractor, :bannana: so any help from you guys would be greatly appreciated. I am located in Black River Falls, WI 54615

Call you local New Holland dealer. They can help you with parts. Be sure and have all the #'s off the GT handy.
There's a member here, Kidmuddy, I haven't heard from him in a while, but he's our resident Ford GT Guru. Maybe he'll stop by with more help.

:Welcome1: Mark!
I would think you could find a new/used block for the Kohler. It would be a lot cheaper than finding a whole engine with the right specs. And that model may have the welded-in oil pan too. Does your tractor have the side panels like mine?
I do have an extra mule drive around here somewhere, and the Yahoo group for these Fords is a good place for the other parts. Also eBay, there's a guy there, Joe's Outdoor Power, that parts out a lot of these Ford/Jakes.

PS Bruce, I'm still around here a few times a day, you won't get rid of me that easily! :sidelaugh

Try this site---I was just there this past Saturday--he has a lot of parted-out L-Garden Tractors...saw quite a few Ford "blue"..
http://www.rscdistributing.com/mowers.htm
Look @ the website, then call on the phone is better---owner's name is Randy Crocker..
Good luck w/ your search...... :thThumbsU

Okay, I've been away for awhile, but I'll try to respond to everyone here. I am also a co-owner in a well-drilling business, so life is pretty hectic this time of year.
Bruceman- I haven't had the chance to check my local New Holland dealer yet, but I plan to for the small parts. Thanks!
Kid Muddy- My Kohler doesn't have the welded in oil pan. I have been checking locally here for an engine with no luck so far, so I may have to resort to getting a block, but I am also missing the carb and air filter housing. I am also a member of the Ford group on Yahoo but no luck there yet. I haven't checked Joes Outdoor yet. Is this "mule" drive you are talking about the pulley assembly that runs either the deck or snowblower? Is it all there and in good shape and how much do you want for it? maurer-drilling@juno.com Thanks Dean for your ideas!! p.s...my tractor doesn't have the side panels. Should I paint the wheels Ford gray or just white? I think they were originally white. Any ideas on getting a set of decals or an owners manual?
glenn27- Thanks alot Glenn, I checked out the site you gave me and he has quite a collection. I haven't called him yet as I am trying to check locally first to save all the shipping.
JoeJ- Actually not sure what you were talking about...probably an inside joke I'm not getting, but still funny...Thanks for the reply.
I hope I didn't miss anybody. I am starting to clean and paint some of the tractor and hopefully I will have pics soon!!! :fing32:
Mark,
I'm sorry about that.
It's kinda an inside joke between Kid Muddy and I.

Mark, I sent you a PDF, let me know if it works for ya.
I know www.smallenginewarehouse.com has repower Kohlers for these Fords, but they'll cost you $$$, around $1700 or so. There's also a guy here in Minnesota that repowers with the Briggs Vanguard engines and he's done some Fords. His website is http://www.jimsrepairjimstractors.com/
The mule drive is the front pulley assembly that runs the mower deck. Here's a couple pics:

I still have to find my spare, there were a couple just on eBay for around $25 though.
Paint the wheels white. :fing32:
As far as decals go, check the database in the Yahoo group, there's a couple links in there for guys that have done Ford stuff.
And don't worry about Joe, he's just mad that REAL tractors aren't named Allis. ROF
