I built this a while back. It's an old front tine tiller that I went through, replacing all the chains, bearings and seals. With the orgional engine/tine setup, it worked well for a long time. That is until the little briggs ate itself.

I posted on the old site that I wanted to fab some longer tines. Argee, slapped some sense back into me ( suggesting that some stub shafts on the end would work.) Well I made some, but was concerned about the pressure out at the ends, so I "eyeball engineered" these longer ones from scrap that was in the pile. It's 40" wide now

I am thinking about coming down in front of the gearcase with a piece of angle iron, kind-of a deflector, to protect it while in the ground. It'll dig in about 10", maybe a little more.

It works GOOD now, but man it throws dirt everywere ( never noticed before the new engine ). I'm still trying to come up with some decent shields with the belt guard in the way. Any advice would be appreciated.

How about using ~90º sections from a metal drum? Cut it so that it leaves part of the drumhead on to serve as a deflector on the end. You could attach angle-iron to the center 'spine' (weld or bolt on with a tab of some sort) & then weld the drum section to the angle-iron.

HTH!

Thanks Jody, and Catdaddy I hadn't thought of that. I cut a couple of pieces from a 300 gal drum grease container, to use as a dozer blade. You may have given me a new use for them. I'll look at them tomorrow.

Thanks, Bruce L.~

Where are you getting the tines from? They almost look like Troy-Bilt tines. Nice project!

fix someones L/G equipment, and besides cash, they unload/give you all kinds of stuff ( tillers, mower, engines, etc. . . . ) These tines are off of a couple of tillers called "Wizards". I did have the set of T/B bolo tines on the tiller, but the 8 tines on the outside were worn pretty bad, and these were like new. I probably have 4 more complete sets of tines. so if anybody needs some let me know.
