Hello all,
Well now that I am the new kid on the block I have a few questions. I just picked up a Ford LGT of some type but it has no engine seat or hood. From all I can find it looks like a LGT 145 or 165 as it is Hydro drive and has power steering and a tube type frome with 4 engine mounts. I am thinking of maybe putting a Geo 3cyl engine in it for laughs as I have a John Deere GT235 with blower tiller and mower for keeping the yard up. But this could turn out pretty nice with maybe a home built bucket etc if I can find some info on this type of tractor. So I guess my main question is. Does anyone have any available info on this series of Ford LGT's with maybe some diagrams etc so that I at least haev a place to start. Also any good used parts places in Canada to look for hood etc.
Thanks
John

I have located the model number on the frame now and it is 09JC3311. Oddly enough that seems to equate to a LGT145. However any LGT145 info I can find says this tractor has a welded in oil pan and this one does not and looks like it never did. I has instead 4 rubber isolated engine mounts. BTW the sn is 2153.
Thanks

:Welcome1: John!
Your LGT145 is a 1977-1983 model, which has the iso mounts for the engine. The '72-'76 models had the welded-in oil pans. You could get a more specific year if you had the Kohler in there, but not much changed between 77 and 83.
A great place for info is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Jacobsen_Ford_Garden_Tractors/
There's a lot of members and usually someone there has parts to sell or trade. Also a CD is available to members that has owner's and parts manuals and also service manuals for these tractors. I believe there's even a couple Canadians on there too. :fing32:

They're great little tractors, tough and well-built.
I would like to see some pics of the power steering setup on your Ford.

I'll get some pics of the whole thing this weekend Dean and post them. Yes it sure seems like this is going to be quite the tractor when it is done or at least running with some type of power..

Well, guess I'm just internet dumb, but I went to the site you recommended, and joined, but I can't seem to find the strings to read what folks have posted.
Any ideas?

RickRick, you have to get approved from the group owner before you can read the messages. It shouldn't take too long before you get a notice that you've been approved.

If this tractor has power steering. The LGT145 and LGT165 did not come with power steering. I am wondering if someone modified this tractor. Well so far none has shown up in my group for these tractors.
The LGT195 did. But the LGT195 was not a tube frame tractor. The LGT195 also came with rear drum brakes, like you would find on a car. Does this tractor have them. Also the rear wheels were 15 inch, not 12 inch like on the LGT145 and LGT165
The tractor came with the heavy duty Kohler 532 19.5 hp
but once again, the LGT195 is not a tube frame, as per the parts manual
