Hi all,
I, as many of you, are new to this site, though many of you I know from other sites. Thus far I am enjoying it very much and must thank those who obviously put some time into this to make it so. Anyway, in the rush to accommodate every need, the site has become a bit disjointed. Yes GW offered no organization of categories, but perhaps this has gone too far. BTW, I'm not bit#$%ching, but just offering my .02. If the rest of the guys...gals want supercategories, then let the majority rule. Anyway, as I get closer to submittting posts that I'm thinking of, I'm having to think of which forum they should be sent to. Is that really the intentions of all of this? :smilie_fl
Cheers

JDFANATIC,
There is an option to collapse or expand a thread on the far right side of the Section bar. For instance if you have no interest in "Non Tractor Related Forums" and/or others, just collapse them down. The New Posts button in the toolbar is one I use frequently, as well as the Quick Links button.
Screenshot courtesy of Greg:
There is a way to "slim down" the main page, if you will. Not perfect, but it may help.
On the right side of the dividing bar for the different sections, is a small button pointing either up or down, depending on how you have it set. Pushing it will "open" or "close" that section.
I don't have a large interest in Zero Turn's. Nothing wrong with them, of course, but just not for me on a regular basis. So I simply push the button and close the section, and the main page becomes "shorter" and more compact. Whenever I want to see something in the ZTR section, I simply push the button again, expanding the section.
It's just a quick work around for some sections...
Greg

Thanks guy's. I wasn't aware of that; still you may want to think of a general board, somewhere near the top. Anyway, this sincerely wasn't meant as a criticisim.

Hi JDFANATIC Welcome!
If you're looking for a general board to just shoot the breeze w/o any particular tractor brand related post, try the forum section titled "backyard roundtable".

I think what JDF meant was that there are too many options OTHER THAN John Deere. He wouldn't be complaining if the whole site was green and gold.
:p
Btw JDF, I'm just kidding. :trink39:

Something I forgot:
The Archive link at the bottom right of the page. It condenses everything.

Thanks for the input. It IS welcome!! This has been talked about before, and eaven during the TF days. As for now, things are kinda still in there forming stages. Forums may be added, fourms may drop. You realy dont know what people want till you offer it to them. We DO read all these sudgestions, and DO take them to heart, so keep them coming.
So as for your point. Well I dont belive we wil get to the one dumping ground like gw has, but also dont feel bad if you post something in the wrong place. If we notice it, we can move it for you, or if you decide to move something, just ask one of us Mods. No hassle at all. We are glad to help however we can.

Hey guys, I like the new "cleaner look" too...easier to navigate, and I've got to agree with JDFANATIC. I don't see any need to have the "by brand" sub-categories in the Lawn and Garden Tractor section..just the "Backyard roundtable", where everything is discussed and we won't miss something. Even though we might be a fan of one particular brand, we still enjoy following the discussions, getting mod ideas, and seeing pictures from owners of the other brands. Also, you might consider moving the ZTR section out of the Commercial section and doing away with the by-brand sub-categories there also...just a general "ZTR & ZTR vs Tractor" area. After all, we all know the the ZTR is the machine of the furture for homeowners...

War Eagle they still have the by brand" sub-categories. You just click on the Lawn and Garden Tractors By Brand and it opens all the brands. We have it that way to lighten up the main page. And we have the brand sub-categories to keep the bashing out. The Backyard Round table is for Lawn and Garden Tractor General Discussion Board.

I agree with War Eagle. I think there are way too many sub forums. I'd like to see just one forum for all ZTR's. I like to read about all different makes of ZTR's and it's going to be a hassle to have to jump in and out of different sub forums for each and every brand made.
Just my humble opinion. :1106:
