I know almost nothing about the MHF line of tractors; are there any really good; accurate books on the Massey linage with in depth info on the tractors combines and implements. It would be a book similar to 150 years of Case as an example; probably a hardback, and around 400 pages.. Can You folks steer me toward the best books

There are a few non Crestline books that MBI carries and advertises as thick hardbounders on Massey; do You fellows know anything about these? Are they pretty accurate on content?

My BIL has a big book on Massey Harris it is a hard back simular to the Allis Chalmbers story by C.H. Wendel.
I was lucky enough to get a look at it and found so many mistakes in just a short glance I wouldn't waste the money to buy it.
Since when Did Ferguson Buy Massey Harris? After the merger Massey and Ferguson had seprate dealers and no name changes took place till 1958.
Sorry I don't remember the title but will try to find out.
I have servive, parts and sales manuals on many Masseys from 1938 to 1957. Also one owners manual for a 1959 65D.
I will be more than happy to answer any questions as I can.
I own a one row pull type Massey corn picker I am in need of a maunal for. Also a Clipper combine with out a manual. I remember the one from my child hood that a neighbor had. We had a AC 66.

You correct Massy Harris company did buy Ferggy.
The very first Massey Harris 50's had decals that read Massy Harris Ferguson but it took the whole hood so shortly after the run started they cut the Harris out. The ferguson 40 was the very same tractor with different sheet medal. I rather liked the looks of it over thew rounded Massy 50 hood of the time.

What stuck to My little memory is hearing Curt Gowdy advertizing for M-H-F; He said You better hurry down to Your local dealer and buy a ferguson tractor; because when this batch is sold; they will no longer be Fergusons; they will become Massey Fergusons.. Surprising enough that sales pitch seemed to work.. BTW Curt Gowdy was a famous rodeo announcer in the Texas Oklahoma region in the 50's and 60's.. I can sure see where the decals would be too long Massey Ferguson is too long a name to put on some of the smaller units that MF has sold

:congrats: I remember Curt Gowdy. He narated the American Sportsman series on TV in the 60's. Had that voice that projected each word as clear as a bell.

I had completely forgotten about his narrations on American Sportsman; two things really memorable about Him; like Dizzy Dean, His voice had that special ring that made Him somewhat legendary; and He would not advertize for anyone if He did not personally believe in the products; hence the ads for Hesston and MHF ; truly one of the last of the old time Honest celebrities..
