These are two of the best spark show pictures I have ever seen... of any engine! Of course they happen to be of the 120 Avery you have all seen here!

They were on Sunday night this year at Rollag. We had NO WIND! It was an awesome show... of course we beat the Minneapolis guys!:hide:

Jerry C. (jechrist) and Jonathan H. provided the load for the engine on the Prony Brake, and Kelly M was the engineer on the engine that night. It was fired by Gary M. The rest of the normal Avery crew helped with the firing... Rick H, Myself, and Josh G. It takes that many people to get the "special" ingredients into the fire to make the show!

The pictures were taken by Bonnie M, (Gary's wife and Kelly's mom) She did an awesome job!

My wife Katy took some digital video of the same show, and I have not even seen it yet. I don't have a way to get the video onto my computer... no fire wire yet, but when I do I have got to get it posted.

Anyway... here's the pics!

Mark,

The weather isn't very cooperative for running steam engines and having parades, so I was organizing some pictures that guests at Rollag have sent me. I came across some spark show pictures from years past. I thought I would add them to the thread you started to help us all get through the cold months as we wait for spring.

In this picture the sparks are just getting started. I believe that is Mark D's Reeves in the belt.

Add a little more load to increase the draft and the sparks increase.

As you can see, we had a pretty good cross wind that night. The folks in the bleachers to the right didn't take long to find another seat!

Same year, differnt night, different engine

This picture shows that if a picture is taken while facing west, the sunset can sometimes wash out some of the sparks.

Different year, different engine. Nick O. owned and was firing this 50hp Case for this show.

The next pictrue is the same year as Nick's. This is Jeff K's Minneapolis.

Does anyone else have other spark show pictures to share?

The Avery's record is safe! :ROF

Great pictures Jerry. Makes me want to head for the hill, only in WX like this, it might be a long time boiling water! I have heard stories of water freezing in a wet bottom boiler when it is hot and up to steam!

I was at the hill last weekend to pick up a freezer, and man is it a different atmosphere there when it is 5 below, and the wind howling 30 MPH! I would rather take the rain at show time!
