Besides me, are there any members that own a grey market tractor?? Just thought I'd blow the cobwebs off and see if there's anyone out there.

Greg, Thanks...

It's a tiny 15.6 (engine) HP, two cylinder, 4WD, with a three speed 13 HP PTO. I found it abandoned behind the dealership where I was finalizing a deal on my Massey Ferguson and walking around while waiting for them to finish the paperwork.

This little tractor should have been the "Poster Child" for basket case magazine - as it had no steering, brakes, alot of missing sheet metal, FWD did not work, two flat tires and the hydraulics to the lift arms had an additional 3 foot hose brazed onto the pressure line. Oh...yeah, and the engine was seazed.

So.........I bought it, and loaded it up behind the Massey, and took it home.

Well, it turns out that 3 of the 4 engine mount bolts were missing. And the last bolt had backed out far enough for the engine to lean far enough over to cause the crank pulley to rest on the axle pivot stop. New bolts, battery and fuel....It started right up.

It took three months to accumulate the rest of the parts and worked on it between other tractors. I could have done it in a shorter time but my Grey parts connections weren't as vast as they are today.

I will try to put up a few more pix this p.m. as all my before and after shots were lost in a hard drive crash last year.

Thaats a nice looking little tractor there. Looks like it would be nice for the small land owner that wants a little something more then a GT, but not enough cash to step up to a subcompact. Nice tiller on there, or maybe a 4' brushcutter and you have a nice little unit to do some hard work. Can a loader be gotten for those? Seems like a small loader would be awsome on that for tight places.

Ok...I'am back. I ran out and took a few pictures after I washed it. Admitedly, it's been sitting for about six months, but there was enough juice in the battery and it started right up.

It pulls a 4' rotary cutter and also I have put a roto-tiller on it from time to time...excellent for just about anything 4' although I've never tried a box blade.

Koyker (and others) make a model 80 FEL that fits right on....I just couldn't justify the expense as I have two other tractors with FEL's, but if a perspective buyer wanted one installed I wouldn't hesitate to do it. I really am I hippocrite as I should sell this little gem, but keep it hidden from view. I will probably never do anything else with it, but it was my first born (Yanmar)....and I have way to much money invested, #3140.51 so far...and I don't count the labor.

Heres a few pictures I hope all enjoy.

Sweeet! :fing32:

Thanks for the additional pics, Mark.

I'm a big fan of Yanmar diesels, although I've only own(ed) one. :D

At first glance I thought it might be a Mitsubishi?? After looking at it at all the angles the seller provides I'am not too sure. I am not familiar with the name brand....and it has the intake and exhaust manifolds on the same side....If we could see a front on shot then my second best guess would have been a very old Hinomoto.

BTW: Pre 1980's??? Doesn't that mean 1970's?

From the looks of it i'm guessing Mitsubishi or maybe Iseki. A picture of the front end would have helped. I would say pre-1980 means 1970ish, maybe even older. This is a new one on me and i usually look at the E-bay ads pretty often.

Granted I dont know a ton about this stuff but it just does not look like an Iseki. Most of the old ones I have seen have the muffler on the left side. Does kinda look like a lot of the Mitsu's I have seen though.

Paul,

I tend to agree with you. The orientation of the fresh air intake and exhaust manifold really throw me a curve....not typical of any Iseki that I know of. And not one picture of the dash - tachometer/hour meter...any gauges??

The M designation on the hood decal is very much like Mitsubishi but usually accomponied by a T to indicate 4X4 (I believe). All speculation on my part.

No, but certain yanmars and satohs are tempting at a low low price! :bannana:
