Free for the taking, very good shape body and deck. Engine is locked up, I don't know if it's from no oil or sitting. I do know it sat since it was almost new.

If you still have this mower, I would be interested in taking it off your hands.

I still have the mower, PM me for a phone number to work out the details. Saturday would be a good day to come and get it. I will post to this thread when it's gone.

I picked the mower up this morning and just wanted to say that the pictures do it no justice. This mower is like new with a only a few scratches on it. The sad thing was that the engine was locked up tighter than a drum. Got it home and hosed some of the dirt off of it and then began the slow process of trying to free up the engine. Pulled the plug and give it a few shots of PB Blaster. Ended up using a pry bar on the flywheel to break it loose. It still didn't want to turn with out the use of a pry bar, so I gave it a few more shots of Pb and then went to my Aunts farm to mow. When I got back home this evening around 5, I tried the pry bar again and it moved a lot easier. Put the plug back in and tried the starter. It turned over real good but didn't want to start, so I used some starting fluid on it and it fired right up. Having a problem with it wanting to stay running without the use of starting fluid. I know it has to be a carb problem. I gave Ole Macdaddy a call this evening and told him I had something I wanted him to hear. He couldn't beleive it. Couldn't ask for a nicer person than Macdaddy. Enjoyed my visit with him and seeing all his toys.

Glad it worked out for you '81-B-82 :congrats: And yes the carb is more then likely gummed up. A good cleaning should do the trick.

Thats great, it runs. Clean that carb and your in business. I was shocked when 81-b-82 called and said "I have something I want you to hear" sounded like it was turning over freely too.
Nice guy, enjoyed the time spent with him. Nice truck/trailer set up too.

Just wanted to give everyone an update as to the Craftsman lawn tractor. Messed with it this morning, cleaned the carburetor and degreased the engine. Started it up and it will run on its own but surges and backfires every now and then. Tried adjusting the carb but I am no good at that. It runs good with the deck engaged but when you turn the deck off it doesn't run and idle smooth like it should. Will give it a try after it sets for a while and cools down. Here are some new pics I took of it. It was running while I took the pics...too bad I can add sound to the pics!!!

Some of these will only run like that. If the carb isn't a little rich, it won't run right with the blades engaged, if you lean it out, it won't run right with the blades off. But it sure is amazing that you got it running at all, so you may find the carb's sweet spot after all.
