Hello all,
I'm gonna be giving my friends WheelHorse (a 318, I think it is) a new paint job. What paint would you reccommend as far as color matching and durability? I've used Rustoleum on a Ford LGT I painted but was wondering if there is anything a little tougher.
Thanks

Are you going for an exact color match? There are literally hundreds of paint systems available and the automotive finishes are probably the best. Of course you'll pay for the paint, hardener, reducer and probably compatable primers if you're shootin' for show room finishes.
Or, there are oil-base enamels that do very well with hardeners....Like BPS manufactured by Valspar for retail outlets (like TSC.). Just about the best bang for the buck but the color selection is limited. I have intermixed different BPS colors and have come very close to original paint colors...If you use something like a Turkey syringe baster and some patience you should have very good results.
Hope this helps.

If you decide to try and do a color match, just remember that if you add black to red it will always dry darker.

I saw this on a forum somewhere. A close match to WH red is Rustoleum oil base, I think they called it Intl. warning red. I believe you might find it at HD.

I just ordered some Wheel Horse paint for my '95 312-8 (I purchased some aftermarket tie-rods that need painting). The part number for my tractor is Toro 361-10 (spray can). You can also buy WH paint in quarts. To get an exact match to the original, you need your year and model number.
