Hello,

Is anyone interested in a FREE 1981 AC 5020 (1/2) tractor? Well, less engine, tin and front axle? Less than 600 hours. My salvage recycler guy has been eyeballing this thing for six months, and before I let it go, just thought I'd try one last time to find it a friendly home. This is not a piece of junk that I'm trying to unload on some poor unsuspecting soul!

The short story is: An elderly friend of mine ask me to repair it as his friend used it, left it outside for 2 years and the rings stuck. He pull started it and it smoked badly.... I started this tractor (pull start only) and ran it with a box blade to see if I could unstick the rings with no luck but the PTO, transmission and rear end worked excellent. Pulled the engine, tore it down and sent the block, pistons and head (with valves) to the machine shop, where he was to pick it up and foot the bill. His priorities changed...gave me whets left of his tractor to off-set the labor.

To most anyone else this is a big chunk of scrap...but to the individual that has one and needs parts..or back up drive train components let me know. In addition to the remaining half of the tractor I still have the cam, crank, flywheel, starter, hyd. pump, water pump, injection pump...etc....Please PM me with any questions or information, otherwise I will have to let it go to the salvage yard....and that would be a sin (IMO)

Thanks, Mark

Did the machine shop complete the work? If yes, seems like it might be worth while paying off the bill and reassembling the tractor with the rebuilt engine. Just pondering out loud.

NO, nothing was done. I located the sleeves, rings & pistons and rod bearings all out of state. Fortunately I had them hold these parts before committing to the purchase. When the gentleman decided not to overhaul....I assume the block, rods/pistons and head are there (machine shop)....or probably scrapped by now. Really too bad.

Just a little update......

Seems I have two people wanting it...One for sure, and if he changes his mind another for sure as the back up. Plus two more making serious inquiries...Go Figure.

Thanks, Mark

Well....Yes, 20 years ago probably. I think I'd better take a few pictures for Ya' just so you don't waste any precious gas :).

It is exactly as I said it was condition wise...I just don't want you to show up and be too disappointed.

Mark, I was talking shape of tractor not condition. It should take me 4 1/2hrs to get there, as I'm SW of Ft. Worth.
