Someone gave me a heads up on a lawn tractor that was going to the scrap yard near where I live. Thanks to whoever it was! (I can't seem to find where I saw the info) I had to borrow a truck and went down Saturday to fetch it. It's an old Hechinger's (MTD?) lawn tractor with good tires, wheel weights, and very little rust. Heck, the seat is still in excellent condition. The fella told me the motor was pretty much history, but I'll need to check into that a little before I give up on that. Cost to me? $15 in gas and an hour of minor repairs on the guy's truck that tickled him to no end. He didn't expect to get it back with the missing rearview mirror replaced, wiper knob reinstalled, and the bed cleaned up.
