These drawings were on display at the local show this year.

Hi memmurph,

I was looking through old threads and came across this one. These are some very nice drawings! Using these will certainly make explaining steam engines and boilers to people that aren't familiar with them easier.

I printed a copy with a laser printer. It did print a light grey background, but every thing is easy to read.

Thanks again for posting these. I don't know why it took me so long to see this thread.

Jerry

P.S. Print in landscape. Then the picture can be enlarged to fill the sheet.

:ditto:

I looked at the date, and I was busy as heck steaming then! This one got by me... Sorry Mark! No excuses!!!

The drawings are great... very detailed. I am sure Jerry will keep them handy by his Prony Brake so he can explain to people what is going on with the engine(s). I should print some copies too. When you are around steam at a show, there are a lot of folks who have no idea what "makes them tick" and it is very rewarding to explain things to them. These drawings would help.

Your welcome guys. :thanku:

I still have the original photo files from my camera I could email to you (or anyone else interested for that matter) if you want better quality. The original camera files are approx 2048 x 1536 1MB in size.

Send me a PM if you want them.

Now that I'm on DSL I've been going back and looking at some of the old threads with pictures here and in other forums I just did not have the time to cover while on the 28K dialup connection. So many things to look at and do in the world and too little time. :fing20:

Hi Mark,

I printed copies of the diagrams you posted. Then when I finally looked in the corner I saw that Bruce Babcock had drawn them. Bruce and I have been involved in a thread about Prony Brakes in the SmokStak forum. I asked Bruce if he had an electronic copy that he could send me. He sent a PDF file of the drawings you had posted.

Then I asked his permission to post the cleaner diagrams here and he said I could. He included one more that you didn't have in the original post.

I am not certain that these images will print as nice as the ones Bruce sent me. I had to copy the PDF file and paste it into my photograph program. Then I saved them as a jpeg. I did try one as a png to see if it would work better. If you would like a cleaner picture of what is now posted I could send you a copy of the PDF if Bruce doesn't mind.

Sure Jerry that would be great so long as Bruce does not mind. Send me a PM if you need my email address again. :)

Mark,

Bruce is a man of my own heart.

He said, "Please feel free to forward to the drawing to anyone who is not going to make a profit off from them. "

I think I still have your address. The copies should be coming.
